How does Tim Williams compare to Sam Montgomery at this point in their HS careers? I just see similar sizes and Tim seems pretty darn quick.

TIA

I think Montgomery was a little bigger than Tim, but it sounds like Tim has bulked up in the off-season so it will be interesting to see him in his senior year.

The two are very similar and have close to the same skill-sets

I think Sam was more polished of a player than Tim at this point, no knock on Tim. Both great players, but Sam was an astonishing steal from OOS.

Crazy to think that Sam only played HS ball for two years

Just an FYI, Big Sam had minimal exposure to weight training before he came to LSU. I'm sure U-High has a pretty decent weight program.

Does Tim Williams run a 4.4 forty? Probably not. Sam Montgomery's speed is the only thing separating the two in my opinion. Pretty similar.

He ran in the 4.4s (4.44 IIRC) in high school. Granted that was when he was in the 220-230 range and before knee injuries. Dude ran down Shep from behind at the UA-AA game.

Tim's best 40 time is a 4.5. He's actually faster than Brossette at this point.

This but Nick has been working on his speed and has gotten a lot faster. Down to about a 4.6 right now. I expect that time to go down as he continues to work on his speed. Tim runs somewhere around a 4.5 but he is very very fast off the ball and has great hand speed. Very fast first step.

I wasn't knocking Nick. I was only attesting to Tim's speed and using Nick as a reference point. Nick has gotten faster compared to last year. Tim is a combo of fast and strong! I hear a lot of the praise being heaped on some of the other DE's being highly recruited. IMO, Tim is a far more skilled player than most of them.

I am pretty sure SM was a national top 3 player at his position if not the #1 and a 5 star. I haven't heard that much praise for Williams yet and doubt he will be that highly regarded. This isn't necessarily a knock against him, as we are talking about comparing him to one of the best DE we have had here.
