.290/.358/.777
5 HR in 341 ABs
19 SB in 25 attempts

Wasn't overwhelming in high A but I guess they want to push him.

not so sweet, but hey man .260+ in the majors will get you paid and laid regardless of home runs. as long as he keeps that sweetass average up, he'll be fine and hopefully up to AAA in the near future.

that line is obviously incorrect, .777 slugging with 5 homeruns???

Considering my Rays are flirting with a team average of .256 and have already surpassed last seasons error count by 12 a kid hitting .260 is a bump.
It's going to be hard for him to break in as the Rays outfield (when healthy)is the deepest part of the team. Now if the kid could play short or 2nd and consitently hit .250 he'd be in today's lineup.

.260 is is generally seen as below average for an MLB starter(non-catcher). It will generally not get you "paid", unless you produce homeruns. A .260 average with no power won't get you much of anything unless you're Ozzie Smith.

That said, Mikie's power should come around and he could be a .275 MLB hitter with 15 HR's a year

Wooden bats make a world of difference in HR production between college and pros. Looks like he'll have to make it on average/obp/defense.

He was playing for the Charlotte Stone Crabs and was leading the team in batting average this year. Got to see him a couple of times this year when they came in town to play the local minor league team.

My friend, Todd Glaesmann, was promoted to the Charlotte Stone Crabs to replace Mahtook. Todd reports tomorrow. They both play centerfield. I was hoping they would get to play together the rest of the season, but congrats to Mahtook.

Rays could use him now. It seems an explosive night for them lately is scoring 2 runs. Mahtook can only help. Outfield is pretty deep but Rays dont even have a decent DH right now. In fact he just went on the DL. Hope to see him soon! I always sport my LSU colors at every game I attend

No doubt wood bats make a difference, but Mahtook has got the power to have a few 15+ HR seasons. The real issue is can he adjust well to MLB pitching.

He also has huge heart, on top of some of that good talent. Another Ty Cobb/Pete Rose type player. I think he makes a MLB career.

killing it in A ball. He has 28 2Bs, 3 3Bs, and 13 HRs, .837 OPS. He was an all-star this year. I'd be shocked if he didn't play AA ball next year.
