It is obviously am awful situation and he passed too early.
Honestly, his portrayal of the Joker, in my opinion, is one of the best performances I've ever seen. I really do think he was that talented and that is what makes it so sad.
It truly is one of the best performances I've ever seen

Such an amazing take on a classic character. Fantastic performance by Ledger

In my opinion, it is one of the best performances ever. People make a big deal about his death. It was sad. But he absolutely owned that role. It is sad. No doubt. Heath had many more years left, but his best was clearly as the joker. No shame in that. Best ever. It's just sad

I always liked him as an actor but he's invisible in TDK. All I see is Joker, I don't see Heath Ledger at all except the scene at the Commisioner's funeral where he has the makeup off for a split second.

I'm saying it's amazing how you just see the Joker, not Heath at all. He completely dove into that character and it shows. He perfected that role

Still watching... Ledger was legit. So fricking sad.
I ask the gods of the movie board to show me a better performance

Ledger's Joker was a masterpiece. I'd say Gary Oldman dove into Gordon as well. He's a phenomenal actor.

I hope one day Nolan will tell us what he had planned for the Joker in part 3.

Well I can think of a few: Chris Cooper in Adaptation, DDL in anything, Deniro in Raging Bull (which I'm actually meh on as a film), and a handful of others). But while I do feel that he's a notch below those, there is not a significant difference between those alltime great performances and Ledger as the Joker. I think I'm going to rewatch the Dark Knight tonight. I've always felt it was slightly overrated (and I'm a HUGE Nolan fan), but a very good flick nonetheless.

Nolan wanted Daniel Day Lewis for Ra's but DDL turned him down; think he said superhero movies are silly or something.
Oh well, I liked Neeson.
