Sproles is what Reggie was meant to be in this offense but couldn't.

This is exactly how I view it.

Me too.
But I was the first to think it, I'm pretty sure.

I hope Sproles can match his production from last year.

yeah mon. i hear ya.
here is what both guys produced for the Saints in their first season with the club.
Bush 2006: 155 carries 565 yds. 6 TD
88 rec. 742 yads. 2 TD
Sproles 2011: 87 carries 603 yds. 2 TD
86 rec. 710 yds. 7 TD
i don't see Sproles getting more carries this year unless we have another RB get hurt. I think he'll still get plenty of targets in the passing game though.
the overall talent on this offense is a whole lot better than it was back in '06 but those numbers above are pretty close.

While we're on that subject, do you guys think he will? I'm wondering for fantasy purposes as well, I will not lie.

ypc is not close at all

oh I know. I guess what struck me most was how similar the receiving stats were. Obviously Sproles found pay dirt more in that category though
again, this offense is hitting on a different level than it was 2006. a lot more talent for defenses to worry about now as opposed to then.

Reggie Bush has better raw running skills, but I would still take Sproles running the ball over Reggie Bush. YPC blows Bush out the water and Sproles is very decisive with the ball and isn't afraid to go straight at a guy if he has to.
I thank Bush for all he did while he was here, but Sproles has been been outstanding for and was actually on the field for us all 18 games.

I'm pretty sure Bush's first year was his best one as a saint. We'll see if Sproles can maintain this level of productivity. Bush was not able to do this as the years went on but I think Sproles can do it for at least a few more years

Sproles doesn't run backwards.

Not to bust your beautiful chops or start an argument, but how does one have better running skills and get smoked in ypc?
I think if anything Bush was a better receiver/route runner.

Bush did his job for Benson. Brought fans into the dome!

I never was real sold on Reggie. He was hyped so much coming out of USC, but then who isn't hyped up by espn coming out of USC?
All of his highlights at USC were against "sho-sho" teams with no defense. I knew the NFL defense were going to be trouble for him.
Thats not to say that I didn't cheer for him, and get excited on his few punt returns.

Not really. Sproles as a rb has much better skills as far as vision, cutting, making people miss, etc.
Now if you mean running track and field, I can see Bush being better at that.

Thing that always drove me nuts about Bush was his dancing around for that college ball sized gap to run through. Sproles can find the smallest crease and slip through. It was common to hear "STOP DANCING" from either me or my dad when watching Saints games up until last year.
