The point was that this fraudalent misrepresentation of the program created an unfair competitive advantage for Penn State.

God, that's a stretch. What about Bama and their "claimed national titles?"

i think fraudulent misreprensation is valid as well as loss of institutional control...

as far as alabama is concerned, the titles are listed on the ncaa website...hell lsu could claim at least 3 more based on what's there...

How can anybody with a shred of dignity think giving Penn State the death penalty is the right thing to do?

What is gained by banning Penn State FB? Who is protected or saved? No one. Its punishing innocent people for no good reason. Its just satisfying an angry mob, nothing more.

I have to agree with this.

very easily....the whole university needs a house cleaning from top to bottom and especially the athletic department, business as usual cannot be allowed to go on...

allow the athletes to transfer without penalty or complete their educations...

Who was involved with the cover up that still works for Penn State?

frankly, it doesn't matter...the culture needs to be changed, as far as i'm concerned the players bought into the cult of paterno and would be better served going elsewhere...

Its Bill O'Brien, the new AD, and the new President's job to change the culture.

It does matter. You suggested a top to bottom university wide cleaning. Why does the janitor, groundskeepers, secretaries, and other employees with no knowledge of the scandal deserve to get fired?

because they bought into the cult of paterno...i'm not saying get rid of the lower level people, but the administration of the university and the athletic department need a total turnover...

there was a columnist i read today who wrote of a penn state professor talking to him about the study of saints the first time he went up there to do an article about paterno...i'd love to have this guy on a review panel...

collateral damage. do the kids and employees of a school on bowl ban deserve to sit at homw b/c of what a HC did 3 yrs earlier that is no longer with the institution?

Does a company's employees deserve to suffer for the indiscretions of the CEO and board when they receive penalties/fines/punishments from the SEC or govt arm?

Already been covered

shite happens...as was described earlier, it's collateral damage, like kids on a football team that gets sanctioned for something that happened a couple of years before...

btw, where's the concern for the boys who were raped (and who knows how many more are out there that haven't come forward)?

Everyone is missing the point entirely. Think of the power it took for Paterno, Spanier, Curley and Schlutz to hide evidence of child rape on campus, in the football facilities, for over 14 years. They did not conjure this power out of thin air. It was given to them by the fanatical support of the fan base.

The only way the fan base can be made to understand the danger of blind allegiance to the football program and its administrators, is to forgo a season or two. Also, it's the only way the fan base can communicate to the rest of America that they understand the magnitude of their institution's failure.

I won't argue that it isn't collective punishment. It is. And that's fine by me.

No one with dignity thinks that is the right thing to do.

So now the higher-ups in the athletic dept get to hide behind the janitor?
The "little people" always get hurt due to the actions of their superiors.
Why should PSU be any different?

Apparently you've been ignoring my posts as well. Why do any of you comment at all if you're going to completely ignore what people are posting?

I'd be fine with this. I've said from the beginning this is bigger than football. It's the over the top, fire every single PSU employee comments that are unreasonable.

It was cowardly then and its cowardly not. No one with dignity would keep on letting the innocent get hurt for other peoples wrong doings.
