Probably the best comeback of any band in rock n roll history. I honestly mean that. Mission of Burma went on hiatus for 20 years, and came back with the two best albums of their career (ONoffON and The Obliterati), and arguably their best song. Seriously, “2wice” is melt your brain great. And they still rock live.
I can’t think of another band that went away for so long and then came back with actually artistically ambitious music which built their legacy instead of just traded on the rep (not that I begrudge the old guys a few bucks – hey, you gotta send those kids to college – I’m fine with a middle age sellout record).

The Feelies and Wire are the only other two that come to mind...
