We already had plenty of cap space right, now without Jack whom was rumored to possibly be Amnestied we have more cap space available? If that is correct, who are we thinking of going after, do we have enough space to sign someone to just under a max deal or is that too much considering EG would be getting a max deal?

And also Jack was the 16th best point guard in the NBA last year according to his PER, so maybe slightly above average at best

But...but...but...he's so nice!

16th best point guard is one of the best in the league last year? Yeah, I'm the casual fan.

Yea I really don't see how this trade is considered 'good' for the hornets .... really could've gotten alot more for Jack instead of Dracula's brother and cap space.

@FletcherMackel

Hornets dumping Jarrett Jack means they'll now sign a free agent center. I'm sure they'll target Jordan Hill but he may be too pricey.

Fletcher gone Fletch.

EGs deal doesn't matter at the moment. We were only about 5-6 mil under the cap. This gives us about 9 mil and the Rashard Lewis signing to the heat probably puts it a little over 9 mil in space. Should be good enough to sign a good player prior to signing EGJ

Not sure how much space we have, but the likely candidate is obviously Batum if Anderson will play 4 and Davis the 5.

Agreed. I'd like to hear some ideas on who, though.

I don't think a S/T for Gordon is in the works. Dumping Jack gives Rivers more time at the point with EG at the 2. And as much as I like Gortat, it doesn't make sense to have newly signed Ryan Anderson as your 3rd big. I have a hard time believing they didn't guarantee a starting spot to him. That would also seem to rule out a McGee type splash for a C. But who knows?

Very curious to see what they say and what they do with the $.

This is what is keeping me from saying it's a bad trade. If we make a move this offseason from this trade then this could turn out being a great trade. But right now, it's just sad t see jack go.

Im guessing the team was comfortable with Rivers/Vasquez at PG and realized there was a glaring need for a big body.

Why do so many in this thread think that there is a backlash against Demps. Jack was a likable player so people are sad that he is moving on, but I haven't seen anyone say anything bad about Demps in this thread other than the one poster that called it a Boweresque cap move.
