And the NAY sayers have arrived.... and at least this one did not get the point...

The Saints have been screwing up by the numbers in a very big way. What makes you so confident that they won't screw up the Drew Brees deal? Riots and mob scenes to follow. Brees and Condon are not without fault either. Exceptionally poor judgement by management in not stopping the bounty BS when they had the chance. IF it ever happening but I won't digress on that here. That is one unholy mess and we won't see the end of it for a long time. The legal system has it now....

Maybe you have complete confidence in Saints management, but I sure as hell don't. The Brees situation is just far too visible for a franchise that is in this much hot water. It looks to me like they have their heads up their &$% ..... And I'll bet that I am not alone.

Personally, I am not, as you say, "too stupid to realize you're doing this to yourself?" I don't have time to read all of the crap that is out there and don't want to. I have done nothing except see that economically and public relations wise, the Saints management is acting as though they are oblivious to the criticism and the blood in the water. And with the current lineup in management including Rita Benson Leblanc (given a leave of absense by her grandfather due to her "attitude"), Loomis, Benson himself and God knows who else (the janitor and drivers???), I am a good bit skeptical of their "attitude."

I have made an observation followed by a suggested course of action. The observation is shared by many and believe me, action on such things have happened. This is not about me. It's about Saints fans in general making a point.

And I'm also sure that you will light me up on this one with your jaded view on things but.....
This is America and small groups can make a diference if they try. But being criticial of those trying to make a difference is just wrong.

Situations like this provide other teams and cities with plenty of ammunition to keep calling New Orleans and Louisiana stupid and rednecks and worse... You may have noticed that there is no shortage of that claim.

It is time to "quit talking and start chalking" as the old pool saying went a/k/a shut up and play.

I hope that Brees is signed, but I fault both parties for keeping the Saints in the news and ALL for bad reasons. If Brees is not signed, then we'll see how Daniels and Canfield do. Time moves on.

Everyone deserves an opinion, but yours is uninformed which discounts it greatly.

Who the frick cares what the media thinks? Especially this offseason. I can picture the headline now
"Brees Signs lets like New Orleans again"

This is a tough negotiation that doesn't have any reason to be finalized other than "media reasons" before the July 16th deadline.

As well they should. First, they have a long waiting list for tickets, so they can afford to piss off a few crazy people. Also, fans don't care about the business side unless it effects them, like the GM making a stupid signing or ticket prices going up. At this point what has gone on doesn't actually effect the fans. Some think it does and are claiming pain and suffering like you did in the OP, but it really doesn't. We saw the exact same thing with both the NFL and NBA lockouts. Lots of negative PR for the leagues, fans bitching and moaning about never coming back, but both leagues managed to save their seasons and the fans came back and everyone is more or less happy now.

Even Bobby Hebert had been pointing to July 16th as the Oh shite date many months ago. How this process was going to unfold was obvious even to drunken cajuns. Both sides have too much to lose to go past the Oh shite date. If they do then shame on both of them and I'll join you in picking up my torch and pitchfork, but if they get the deal done then this thing is playing out exactly as it was scripted, Brees will be in camp and everything will get back to normal. There is no need to send management a message for doing what the NFL system requires of them.

I personally have been in favor of giving Brees what he wanted, screwing the cap and planing to rebuild rather than reload after the window closes on the Brees era. But if Mickey wants to save every penny and try to keep things moving let him try. The $750k they are currently apart amounts to 2-3 undrafted rookie FAs, nickel and diming Brees might allow the Saints to find the next Pierre Thomas or Chris Ivory, and cheap talent will be important as Bree's cap number rises significantly.
