I've got a wedding this weekend to go to. I'm flying up a night early to catch up with an old grad school buddy of mine and his wife (who will be driving in from Quantico).

Any suggestions on a good restaurant?

michael's bistro and tap house on the corner right across from the grounds, or the boathouse on 29 is pretty decent

Ate at Tavola, The Local and Mas, all within a block of each other in the Belmont neighborhood in the last month. All were good.

Brookville on the University end of Main Street Mall was also nice and probably better for lingering. It is upstairs, nice atmosphere, but you don't get the people watching you would at one of the other restaurants on the Mall.

Haven't been but have heard good things about Bella, Maya and Bizou.

Pick up the Hook tabloid when you get to town. It's restaurant week ($26 3 course deals) and they have a special insert with menus from participating places.

It isn't in Charlottesville, but not far from it, but Crozet Pizza is pretty fantastic as I recall. Granted it has been about 7 years, but used to love going there.
