A stainless receiver and barrel have nothing to do with stock choice. A blued gun with wood stock will last as long as a stainless/synthetic combo will if you take care of it.

eta: from that link I think you mean laminate stock. They're still wood, just not one solid piece. It's like plywood and is coated. Not better, just another option.

So true. Take care of them and they will be handed down to your grand kids.

I have some 60 year old guns that have some wear on them but still in great shape.
