Original Ninfa's on Navigation is great Tex Mex. Is just east of downtown.

El Tiempo is also very good.

Since you're downtown, make sure to hit up La Carafe. It's the oldest building in Houston. Very dim lit, romantic, etc... Only beer and wine though.



BBQ in Houston is actually pretty lacking. Gatlin's is the best but out of your way. Goode Co. is decent and probably your best bet.
