LOLo Camby,Lewis, and Allen...a bunch of old guys past their prime = The Avengers of the NBA?

Lebron basically carried the heat throughout the playoffs btw

Wade's knee was so bad he didn't even practice during the playoffs. Next year the Heat will have their best team I think.

Lebron, Bosh, Wade plus quality reserves in Battier, Miller, Allen, Haslem, Lewis, and Camby is stacked. I didn't blame Lebron for leaving the Cavs because they were an old unathletic team. If he wanted to team up with Wade alone or Bosh alone, I wouldn't have had a problem with it. He could have still won without creating a super team. When he took the easy way out, I lost respect for him. Now the Heat will automatically make it to the Finals ever year in the league with the least parity. In 25 years, only 8 teams have won a title and only one of them (the Mavs) hasn't won multiple titles in that span. It sucks as a fan when I could predict the Finals match-up before the season even started. It will be OKC-LA and BOS-MIA again next year.

The predictability definitely makes the league boring up until the conference finals.

I'd frankly rather watch some heavyweights go at it in the conference finals and the finals instead of a bunch of mediocre teams pussyfoot all over the court.

They just need to contract to 24 teams, 12 in each conference so more teams will have rosters as deep as Miami.

Not me. I stopped watching the Finals when the Heat took a 3-1 lead.

Ray Allen is a good player but damn he's always hurt and only has a few years left. Any team that has LBJ with a semblance of help is dangerous so this move really doesn't change that much.

I love Ray Allen and I think people forget what a spectacular franchise player he was when he was younger and before the injuries...
BUT, I don't think this changes the Heat much. Miller will retire IMO and Allen is probably just a logical replacement rather than any sort of upgrade right now

How do the Heat even have money to still pursue Camby and Lewis? I thought teams over the cap get the MLE and that's it. Are they going to sign for league minimum?

Sign and trade or vet minimum.

I saw the Heat are considering trading Joel Anthony for Camby in a sign and trade.

It's interesting to me how some people want to try and take something away from Lebron bc he joined up with Wade and Bosh. If you look at the rosters of most NBA championship teams, especially the dynasties, in the history of the sport without their best player i.e., the Bulls without Jordan, Celtics without Bird, Lakers without Magic, Celtics without Russell, they're all as good as the Heat without Lebron if not more so.
Rodman/Grant, Kerr/Armstrong, Kukoc
Worthy, Kareem, Divac, Perkins
Parish, Mchale, Ainge, Johnson
Cousy, Havlicek, White, Jones
Wade, Bosh, Chalmers/Allen??
It's a stretch to put Chalmers and a 37 year old Allen on the list which i think helps prove my point.
And that's off the top of my head without doing any research, you could definitely come up with some other good ones. Point is that just bc Bird, Magic, Jordan, and Russell were lucky enough to have competent front offices and have GREAT supporting casts put around them, why is Lebron crucified for having to go do the same by himself?

It is one thing to join forces in your twilight years like the 97' Rockets with Hakeem, Charles, Clyde/Scottie and the 08' Celtics, it's another thing when the three of them haven't even reached their prime (Okay Wade did but Bosh and Lebron didn't).
Posted on 7/7/12 at 4:02 am to JabarkusRussell
That didn't address my point at all. Why is it ok to be surrounded by talent if the front office assembles it but it's cheapened if you assemble it yourself? Another great example, the OKC Thunder. Westbrook and Harden(despite an atrocious finals) are right about on par with Bosh and Wade. Plus throw in Ibaka who was top 3 in Defensive Player of the Year Voting. It's so illogical that just bc Durant couldn't improve his team by himself, thereby insuring that OKC got two more years of top-5 draft picks, his title would've been more "legit" than Lebron's. Bc Lebron was so good so fast in Cleveland that they never got another high lotto pick while he was there.
