So after picking up my first glock today (glock 19 9mm), I am looking to add a 1911 that will be a shooter. I have a pair of colts that are safe queen. What is the best 1911 in the $600-$800 range. Looking for something that is fairly accurate, but more importantly will hold up to a couple hundred rounds a month. Thanks in advance.

Springfield or Ruger in the price range you are looking for. both will serve you well.
Lots of guys will chime in with good advice.
If you want to save a little money you could look at the ATI line as well as the Rock Islands

That ruger has gotten some great reviews. Should be able to get into a bare bones SA or colt in that range. You'll be happy with either. Do some research on how to check fit and look at all pistols close.

I'm quite fond of my Springfield GI model. I picked it up for right at $500.

I love shooting my G19 but would love to buy a 1911 to take apart and put back together over and over.

I'm a fan of anything Kimber
I recently purchased the Pro Raptor II
love this gun, it's a damn naildriver that is as accurate as any pistol I've ever owned
But, if you wait a little bit you can get imho the best CCW on the market right now
The Sig Sauer p938
Now, the first initial reviews of the p938 have it shooting low and a little bit to the left, but if it is one thing SS is good at it is fixing problems presented by their buyers

Bayoutiger,
You can throw American Classic or Citadel in to mix w/ the above if you want to save money, or decide you want to spend the same amount of money w/ a few upgrades (e.g. high profile Novak type sights, extended slide release/thumb safety, lowered ejection port, target hammer/trigger, etc) over the entry model of other brands. Like ATI, RIA, Citadel and AC are all made in the Philippians. RIA and Citadel are made by the same company. I bought a Citadel Officer instead of RIA because the Citadel had much better sights and some other upgrades, as well. I also have an AC Commander. I've been very happy w/ both guns. If I wanted the upgrades, I'd look at the above Philippine made 1911's. Otherwise, I'd look at STI, Ruger, Springfield Armory and possibly Remington.

I have this 1911. Picked it up about a year ago to add to my growing collection and it quickly became my favorite weapon. It feels perfect in my hand and looks so sexy I get hard everytime I think about it.
