I wasnt the biggest Austin Rivers fan I'll admit, but dammit........his genuine excitement to be drafted to NOLA and very thing he said sure was refreshing. I sincerely beleive he's genuine. I'm gonna pull for that kid really hard. This EG shite may be a ploy....who knows. I just hate that he resorted to this. Didn't have to be this way. Pretty chicken shite really.

You match whether he wants to be here or not. At least if you match you can trade him to a team that has actually trade pieces unline PHX. I'm sure Portland and Indiana would want to trade down the road.

Basically, EG agreed to a max deal with Phoenix (no surprise). The issue was in what he said in his prepared statements. Saying stuff like "My heart is in Phoenix."
The Hornets can match and hold all the cards but it sucks if he doesn't want to be here. He still may be completely fine with playing in NOLA but those quotes dont help his case with Hornets fans.
