I think he could do OK along side Lucas, but not as a lone holding mid... Unfortunately, we now have Allen, Henderson and Gerrard that are ahead of him in the pecking order and playing well... So, who do you sacrifice for a guy on loan to get PT? no one... So, if we're not going to play him, may as well save on his wages... He's a luxury player and we cant really afford those at the moment...
what we need in MF is defensive cover for Lucas and a #10...

Lucas, Sahin, Gerrard would be okay. Lucas, Allen/Henderson, Gerrard is better because of the motors Allen/Henderson have compared to Sahin.
Agreed on the DM. #10 though? We have a world class #10..
