1998 was an awesome match. Beckham got sent off on an idiotic red. Owen was 18 and had that horrible dive before a gorgeous goal off of a long winding run. Zanetti scored on a perfect set piece goal for Argentina and then they went through on PKs.
2002 Owen drew another PK and England won 1-0. They played a friendly against each other earlier in the year that is worth watching. Owen had a brace and England won in stoppage time. A much better match than their one in the WC.

I started on a diatribe which has already been covered. Deleted it.

I wasn't pimping England, so I hope you didn't take it like that

FSG bought LFC 2 years ago today for £300M.

LFC is reportedly deciding to add-on/renovate Anfield for £152M instead of building a new stadium. Thoughts, Liverpool fans?

I like the idea if its done properly, this way you get to keep the history of Anfield, but update it to a more modern feel and make it larger seating wise

Whatever they feel is best... I like the idea of staying at Anfield for the obvious reasons... I'm sure they wouldnt opt fpr this solution if it didnt keep us in the game financially

Yup. It's the safest bet really. Plus the expansion will facilitate more possible expansions in future years.
Building at Stanley park would put us in huge debt and would double ticket prices (as John Henry said). The club isn't basing its finances on matchday revenue, so a small upgrade is all that's needed. Commercial deals is where the money is made.

Really hope so, will be interesting to see how they are going to deal with the expansion though, because the article I read this morning said they wouldn't have to play anywhere else, does that mean you are going to have to shut down a section of the stands in order to do construction?

I dunno, I read that as well... It's not like there is a very long offseason...

That's what I was thinking, it's what 3 months max right? Don't think you could really get anything done in that amount of time. I mean would 'Pool fans take the inconvenience in the short term to have a better and bigger stadium for the foreseeable future.

They probably wont have a choice, but I'm sure they would be accepting, knowing the desired result...
I'm guessing it would have to be a phased approach and not all at one time (year)... but I dont reallly know

Almost has to be phased, really hoping they will make plans public (as far as renderings go). Would love to know how many seats they plan to add
Posted on 10/15/12 at 12:26 pm to Tigerfan7218
from what Ive read is they want to get the capacity up to 60,000
