Haha he's still a damn child, thought he was closer to senior squad age for some reason. How does the EPL do their reserve team games? Bundesliga has their reserve teams in the 4th division and some have been promoted to the 3rd, so they just play against those clubs Eta the 4th division is wild, it's like a bunch of regional leagues and the winners of those leagues face off for promotion to the 3rd

Yeah, he was given a shot due to our striker shortage... They just have a separate reserve league... I've heard talk of people wishing it was like some of the foreign leagues, where they would compete in the lower divisions...

Yeah the German reserve thing is a bit new, believe they started this only sometime in the last decade. Seems to have worked out I suppose. I don't hear many complaints about it, but then again I live an ocean away from Germany and typically stick to English message boards whilst getting my German football fix

After the season or immediately? Are we just trying to free up some weekly wages?

We're looking to cut the loan short in January. Smart move.

I guess Sahin just isn't a good fit for our midfield. He certainly lacks the pace I would prefer, but I still don't think I ever really got to see him play in his preferred role. Oh well.

He's a decent talent, but he isn't suited for the Prem in general. He would probably do well at United, but he wouldn't fit into many other sides.

I think he could do OK along side Lucas, but not as a lone holding mid... Unfortunately, we now have Allen, Henderson and Gerrard that are ahead of him in the pecking order and playing well... So, who do you sacrifice for a guy on loan to get PT? no one... So, if we're not going to play him, may as well save on his wages... He's a luxury player and we cant really afford those at the moment... what we need in MF is defensive cover for Lucas and a #10...

Lucas, Sahin, Gerrard would be okay. Lucas, Allen/Henderson, Gerrard is better because of the motors Allen/Henderson have compared to Sahin.

Agreed on the DM. #10 though? We have a world class #10..

Are you talking Suarez? I still see him occupying one of the three forward roles... though I believe he will play more to the middle... I would be happy without a pure #10, but we need someone more creative in the midfield, as the most advanced of the 3... I took the illustration below from Zonal Marking and it was from Suarez's last season at Ajax... Thats kinda how I see him playing. the article itself, talks about his influence on the game..

Ive expressed my admiration for Eriksen before (ironically, he said he doesnt view himself as a #10)... But i also thing getting a little older guy in to allow Suso to mature into that spot wouldnt be a bad idea either... In that case, Honda is out of contract in the summer and wouldnt mind getting him at all... Ive been a fan since the 2010 WC... And I'd love Wyanama to bring that young, big physical presence to our midfield, ala Toure..

Hmm. I think he will naturally drift in and out of the #10 role. I'd like to see us go after another winger to have a front 3 of Sterling-Sturridge-???? with Lucas at DM, Gerrard in a holding role and Suarez in a pure #10 role. Thoughts? I think Suarez would be a fantastic #10. He can play a through ball, has great vision and link-up play. He's an extremely versatile player.

Yeah, I'd be happy with Ince if he came in... I'd be all for trying tha out. I'm skeptical about Suarez being able to supply them with they key passes... He definitely has the eye and pulls off some amazing passes, but he can also give the ball away a bit and be selfish (part of that is I dont think he fully trusts the other to finish)... I do believe we'll see a bit of it all while BR tries to figure out what works..

There's a lot of versatility in the squad right now. Sterling-Borini-Sturridge, Sterling-Sturridge-Suarez, Sterling-Sturridge-Assaidi, Sterling-Sturridge-Ince. Would love to see Suarez get a shot at the #10.

A little off the subject here... Maybe its just me, but for some reason, I dont see Assaidi here next year... I know he's off to ACON for now. I could be very wrong and maybe he has really been injured (which would make me wonder why he'd be picked for ACON)... I liked the looks of him as a true winger, too... I am definitely excited to see Borini back... I love his work rate, the runs he makes and his finishing ability... with some of our new additions he can prove to be very valuable up top...
