I believe I may be the only Arsenal fan within a 200 mile radius. The only other EPL supporter I know in this town of 100k+ is a fricking Toon. I have a good feeling about this campaign. I'm excited about the signings, and I also think we keep RvP. It isn't all sunshine and lollipops from me, I am concerned about Wilshere. Maybe this is the season that Abou Diab...

Yea hopefully Wilshere's situation will be similar to Vermaelen's in that they miss a year but come back ready to play.

RvP will not sign an extension at Arsenal, per his website. Sell him now, preferably out of the country.

Sad really. For the first time in a while we have shown some ambition. We finished 3rd in the EPL last year and with 4 or 5 quality additions this summer, keeping in mind we have already signed 2, you would have to figure we would have a good shout for at least one trophy if not more this season. Given the armband and a year later jumping ship. You are better than that Robin, or at least I thought you were.

We've signed some players, but are they really big names? Nobody else was in the hunt for Giroud and Podolski is coming off one of his worst runs of form ever. We're not chasing after big stars that can win you a title. Vertonghen should have been ours with his connection to Vermalaen, but he's a Tottenham lock. M'Vila negotiations have broken down. We still haven't signed a coveted player since probably Arshavin in 2009.

Giroud was wanted by Chelsea but chose Arsenal instead. Podolski was wanted by a few Serie A teams. Why would we want to spend the money it will take to buy Vertonghen to be a 3rd or 4th choice CB? Why do you think he choose Spuds in the first place? It was because he didn't want to compete for a first team place. M'Vila negotiations probably has to do with his poor attitude and his involvement with whole France national team debacle that placed him in the company of Nasri, Menez, and Ben Arfa.

I do not appreciate this news on the Fourth. I'm going to get off this board, go get drunk, and wake up tomorrow with RvP claiming his dream is to continue captaining the Gooners and can't wait to sign an extension. How much do you suppose I should drink?

Giroud was coveted by some other big squads, same with Podolski. M'Vila apparently fell through because he's a punk and it's not like people are bending over backwards to sign him.

I'm generally one of those The reason we moved quick on Giroud was in large part to Inter showing interest. With those signings and a marquee replacement for RvP, we can contend. Let's be realistic, last season was an aberration for RvP. Probably a wise decision to cash out.

That's what I'm saying. Doubtful he has a season like that left in him. Sell sell sell while he's a hot commodity.

Yea but I know this feeling all too well. Star player leaves every transfer season. You never get used to it. Makes me want to acquire some Guinness pronto.
