We probably will. I honestly wouldn't mind Coquelin starting in place of Diaby though. Would give us a little more height on set pieces and would keep the squad a bit more balanced.

Arteta has an ankle injury and is a doubt for tomorrow... Gnabry is in the 18 man squad.

Bad news.

Good to see him developing the way he is.

Swiss Ramble on our financial situation. It's a long read.

Looked fairly good in the first half. I will say that out of 3 cbs we have Vermaelen is looking like 3rd best defender, giving away pens and cheap free kicks. Another soft goal. Not good. Gervinho is looking like he may make a decent frontman after all. Coquelin has also really impressed. Makes tackles and is all over the field working hard.

Mertesacker needs to play over Kos. It's that simple, forget about last year ETA: It already cost us 3 points in the league. This is the same thing we saw last year. Verm and Kos are good individually but they don't form a very solid partnership

No Mertesacker needs to play with Kos. Im starting to believe that Vermaelen is overrated because of his goal scoring record. He has done some dumb stuff this year like giving away countless free kicks in dangerous areas and running up field then getting caught on the counter. I rather Kos as he is safer and with Mertesacker there to help him that partnership would blossom. The only problem with this is that Verminator is the damn captain.

He's just not in form right now. Verm has always been overly aggressive in both his challenges and runs forward. It's something you have to live with. Have a dedicated DM nearby to cover for him when he vacates his area.

Thought he was very overrated last year. He doesn't do it for me.

This is the key phrase. This year Verm and Mert has been by far our best pairing and we need to stick with that IMO. Also Gervinho looks great this game

Agree to disagree there. He had a good second half of the season, but I never viewed him as a top 5 CB.

Lets not argue. Top of UCL Group with a favorable GD. Yeah, I danced on the bar when Aaron scored. Chill out bros. When Jackie and Tomas get back our mid-field is second to none, besides Barcelona.

Looking good. Hope we can take it to Schalke and lock up a group win early so we can rest our starters. I'm going to have to disagree with whoever said Kos and Vermaelen are an ineffective pairing. Last year with Sagna/Kos/TV5/Gibbs our back line as good or better than anyone else in the league. Unfortunately that was only present for somewhere between 10 or 15 games if memory serves. Can't seem to find the EPL Index article with those Opta stats. All that to say, I'd prefer Mertesacker and Koscielny, but that seems unrealistic since TV5 is our captain. Also have to disagree with Beast. Kos is a top CB. Led the league in interceptions and tackles last year IIRC. Played very well for us.
