Yeah that's where my 30€ mil. figure came from. He is one of the top 5 true strikers in the world. He could go to any EPL team and dominate. He doesn't fit Pep's philosophy though.

I really think it will be more of a youth movement with Pep. He might bring on someone that is of the Barca mold, but Bayern plays pretty much the way Pep likes to play. It's just different formation wise. We also put in more crosses than he likes but that is because of who our forwards are.

Best case, in my mind at least, is that if Gomez leaves he is replaced with Jovetic. I've wanted him for a long time now and the conditions for a move seem perfect if everything falls into place. I could be wrong but I think he's in a bit of a contract dispute which could help.

Really? I always thought you guys were more of a counter attacking team... Admittedly, I have only seen a handful of games here and there...

I don't doubt that he is worth close to that. But the problem is finding someone to actually pay close to that much.

Chelsea - In for Falcao, Cavani, Jovetic
City - Full
United - Full
Madrid - Full
Barca - Full
Juve - Signing Llorente July 1st
PSG - Full
Anzhi - ?

So at that point you have to start looking at clubs who might be able to pay half that.

LFC - Doesn't fit
Tottenham - ?
Milan - ?
Arsenal - Maybe?

It will be tough for him to go anywhere but the Prem. But I don't see any of the top 5 clubs really going for him. And after them, there is a serious drop off of what other clubs can afford.

Bayern has the second highest possession rate in Europe behind Barcelona.

Right, but since when does a team being full stop them?

I could definitely see Real and Chelsea being interested.

Cool... hey, look... we're 5th!!

I stand corrected, like I said, I've only seen you play a few times... I guess theoretically, your personnel says "counter attack" team...

Taking that into account, and a few other similarities, no wonder he picked FCB

yes, we have some of the best counter attacking players in the world, but the tactics are certainly possession based.

On Jovetic, I admittedly dont watch much Serie A but he's a good prospect on football manager what kind of player is he?

A lot of people said he was the second coming of Baggio in his early days... His coming out party was CL three years ago when he scored a couple against LFC to knock us out of the group stages and then scored 2 against Bayern in the knock out rounds to beat them 3-2 (lost overall on away goals)... he primarily played as a LW...

then he was out a year when he blew out his knee...

Last year they started to ask him to play through the middle more and this has continued on through this year... I think he is a hybrid CAM/Second Striker... Although he can lead the line..

I think he is another player on the verge of being a superstar given a bigger stage.. He's been very loyal to Fiorentina in the past, but I think he will be allowed to leave this summer with no CL... They currently sit in 5th..

so he sounds like he might be similar to tommy fussball, which is a great thing. when tommy plays in the middle he's a hybrid cam/ss and even when he's on the wing he might as well be a hybrid cam/ss but LW is good because ribery cant play forever and RW is pretty good with robben, muller, shaqiri.

If Pep tries to implement 4-3-3, he can play the Messi role... And then anywhere in the attacking 4 in 4-2-3-1

They do have similar qualities (Muller) and he is a decent size guy too...

Yeah Pep isn't going to have much to do personnel wise. I'm sure he understands that he won't be able to bring in a player to replicate Messi in his system and will adjust accordingly. Muller can play through the middle too. I do t think he has the vision and touch necessary to be the primary choice, but if worse comes to worse he's an option. I feel like Pep will look at some young Spanish guys to fill the void too. Maybe Muniain could make the switch to the center? Or any of the other young Spanish guys out there with immaculate touch and vision. If you can get that, the goals will come.

Maybe not 92 in a year, but that just means the goal scoring load isn't all on one player.

kroos has the touch and vision to play in the hole, his work ethic is questionable though. a motivated toni kroos is a scary toni kroos. i think muller has good enough vision, he's incredibly crafty. his first touch is a bit rough sometimes. I'm not convinced pep will even try to run a false 9 though.

i also think that Can will be sold, he was a u17 superstar, but still hasn't developed the technical ability to be effective at the professional level. he just preyed on pubescent children in his younger days, now with only minor physical advantages he doesn't even start for the reserves who are not on track to be promoted to the 3rd division. maybe pep sees something in him and will keep him around, i'm not sure.

also beast, what kind of topics are you going to be covering for ives? i guess the obvious would be an americans abroad report, but he has separate coverage of that.

He gave me 3 roles. 1. The Bundesliga. He wants to expand the European content on his site. 2. A team in the hex. Don't know who yet, he hasn't assigned teams. 3. He's going to have me be a beat for an MLS team. This is probably the most important since he told me (us, really - WSE as well) that he would be giving us all of the contact information we need in order to immerse ourselves in the club, give player/manager interviews, etc.

the mls gig will be pretty sweet, hopefully you get a good team.

if you ever need help choosing something to write about for your bundesliga reports just drop in over here, i'm sure hendo or i will have some ideas. the title race isnt so close, but the race for CL and europa league is pretty heated. should be a fun second round slate of games
