I get mad when people say "and it's not even close" because generally when arguing about something it must be close.

This is one of the rare times I will ever say it. It's golf, and it's not even close.

I get mad when people say "and it's not even close" when arguing about something that is most definitely close.

It's tennis, but it is close.

He probably won't explain. But he may angrily reply with all caps and exclamation points.

With golf you have a caddy to tell you things, calm you down and carry your shite. Even how to hit the ball. Golf is also not physically exhausting, which is dealt with mentally. Hell, they're only walking and swinging a club about 45 times and then putting. I agree golf is mentally challenging, but I watched some of that tournament yesterday. That guy in the last group's caddy was telling him everything to do.

This is foolish. First, the player always makes the final call. And when guys get under the gun, they are listening to the caddy because they've played and grinded for 4 days. And every shot at the time is thought out. When you finish a tournament, you just want to go to sleep and not think about a damn thing.

And I don't understand how tennis is mentally challenging. I'd say pitching is more mentally challenging than tennis. Anything that's not a reaction sport is going to be more mentally challenging

Tiger Woods has won 14 majors and by your logic his caddy did most of the work for him. Every single shot in Golf matters. You have nobody against you but the course and the elemnts. I agree that tennis is the rougher sport as far as physical, But golf is 90% mental and 10% physical.Tennis.....not so much.

The thing about golf and tennis is you get to reset every weekend. Yea you can have a bad year but if you still managed to do well or win a few tourneys it can turn around your season. Baseball is one continuous season. Going 4-4 a few times isn't gonna help if your still hitting .230 on the season.

Still, somebody is there. Tennis players are on an island.

In tennis, your moves are generally reactionary and you don't have time to think

In golf, you have a 4-5 hour round where 95% of that time is thinking

Baseball and golf.

A lot of time in between the action that keeps your mind consistently getting in the way.

Right...in tennis you have an opponent trying to exploit your weaknesses. I don't think this helps your argument.

I think that it is completely absurd to say that baseball is remotely as mentally challenging as golf or tennis.

Tennis players: is it more mentally challenging to return serve or serve?

All tennis players will reply: to serve, because when returning serve, you are reacting.

In baseball, players are reacting.

Tennis majors last for 2 weeks.

To be fair, I can see how people who have never played tennis competively would think that tennis is not as mentally challenging by just watching it.

Which is why I said pitching. Every pitch you throw in a game serves a purpose

I'm talking more about the pitching and hitting aspects.

If you're struggling and you have several thoughts in your head, you will continue to struggle.

Serve and volley is mentally challenging?
