I was a kid when it happened, so I don't remember what all went down. I do remember, though, that the food was awesome.

One of the truly special New Orleans resaurants.

The couple that ran the restaurant, Anthony and Gail Uglesich, just got old and wanted to retire. Their adult children weren't interested in the restaurant business.

Mike the oyster shucker is at Casamento's now. He told me in April there was talk in the family about reopening. I'm still praying on it.

If the kids didn't have the passion to run it back in 2005 when it closed, you have to wonder if they have it now. I can't imagine it would be as good as it was when Anthony and Gail ran it for 41 years.

Don't know. They've got all the recipes. Mike didn't indicate it was just kids. He said "the family". Don't know what that means. Gail and Anthony have been doing some catering. I see the updates on Facebook when I check their page.
