NFL overseas - yea or nea?

There has been talk in recent years of the NFL expanding overseas to London and other places abroad.
Why?
You gotta believe it's the almighty dollar at the root. I understand it's a business but I can't imagine teams flying to London, Tokyo, Mexico city, etc. without major disruption to practice and scheduling in a typical week.
I like the NFL the way it is (actually liked it better about 20 years ago)and don't want to see it evolve into something that deviates too much.
What do you say - yea or nea to expanding internationally?

Yeah it's a no brainer for London.
4 home games back to back, 4 away games back to back - bye.
4 home games back to back, 4 away games back to back.
Every team traveling to London gets a bye the week after.
Also the Bills should be moved to Toronto as soon as Wilson croaks. That is also a no-brainer.
Chargers to LA and Raiders to LA as soon as possible. Also a no brainer.
Those moves alone would probably nearly double the next TV contract.
I'd also say that as fans of the NFL and football we NEED the league to keep growing financially because the more money the league makes the more vital it will be for our nation to keep it alive despite all these politically correct head trama suits and this bullshite movement against football that's going on in the country right now.
Essentially we need the NFL to become "too big to fail".

Why is everybody against a team in London? It would be awesome. The NFL and Premier League soccer are the only 2 major sports leagues where teams abroad are feasible.

I'm from London originally, it's been discussed to death on the nfluk.com boards and the prevailing consensus is that it's a fricking awful idea.
Teams are at a bigger disadvantage flying East than West, American Football is resented on the whole in the UK, and where are they going to play? Wembley? No way a London team will fill that every week. People are happy to travel down from the North of England, Scotland etc once a year but won't do that 8 times a year. It's a crappy idea.

Hey, as a fan, I'm all for it. Let's see how it goes, but looking objectively from the NFL's POV, just wtf.

London is a terrible move. The London team has to come here 4 times a year making 6-12 hours flights twice in 3 days 4 times? The Saints travel on Fridays for California games as it is.
And a London team isn't going to come here for 2 or 3 weeks. Staying in a hotel for 2 weeks? How much use would they really get of their practice facility? All London games would have to be 7pm Greenwich time (1pm Eastern).

It's easily remedied.
Move a team like Jacksonville to London and keep their training facility as the "American base" for the new London team. They'd have two four-week road trips each season in which they'd stay and train in Jacksonville and they play their road games from that base. After each 4-week road trip the London team would get a bye.
Increase to two byes per season for each team. Give every player on the London team an extra $350,000 per season or an extra 20% (whichever is less) on their salary (taken entirely from the increased revenue streams) to incentivize them. Quadruple their playoff money payouts to incentivize them.
Any player on an American based team who plays a London road game gets an extra $25,000 for that game - also taken from the pool.
Any American based team plays an East-coast road game the week before their trip to London and then has a bye the week after.
It doesn't matter one bit if Wembley doesn't sell out - the TV revenue alone would more than pay for all of this.
It's really not that impossible. It would be cool if the NFL and EPL struck a deal that NYC gets an EPL franchise when London gets an NFL franchise.

I don't really get the Alejandro references. I've been a member longer than Alejandro was as far as I know. I didn't really have time to post the past few years because I wasn't behind a desk - but I suppose we do have similar posting styles.
So while anecdotally I may "seem like" Alejandro, the facts make that an improbability (much like it "seemed" like the NBA rigged the draft for the Hornets, but when you dig in you find that the facts make that improbable). Also, I'm sure TD could check my IP address and confirm that I live nowhere near Houston.

You think the people in London will support a team that is on another continent months at a time?

They wouldn't be able to attract FAs, maybe not even sign their draft picks, but the other owners would never allow that.

In theory I wouldn't be opposed to the London Monarchs as long as the feasibility issues are worked out to an extent that I have not given it much thought on how to do it. If it can be done, great.
He does make a good point in the massive revenue with that huge tv market (and I'm sure a lot of other Europeans might follow the team) that would be created. If anything it expands the NFL's brand making the Saints and New Orleans as a constituent unit of this global market that much more prominent.
