Why would Gasol be disinterested? He's one of the most professional guys in the league. And his age doesn't mean much.. he will be an effective player for at least another 5 years, maybe more.

At one point you have to add solid veterans if you want to be a decent team. That means taking on a contract you probably won't like.

Everyone wants to cite the Thunder, who are obvioulsy the exception to the rule. How many championship caliber teams are built the way they did it? None. They are a very unique situation and expecting the Hornets to do the same thing will probably leave everyone disappointed.
