Mark is helluva guy/coach Wisconsin made a stupid decision.

Seems to be working out for them right now.
Wasn't a good fit, he'll get a good gig in a month.

I talked to big Curt yesterday and he said that Mark and Keith were looking to get back into CFB.
I never thought Keith was given fair shake at Ole Miss or TU. but I know as arrogant as he is, he can make you dislike him.

For the most part all football coaches are gigantic dbags. Just unenjoyable MF'rs.
I'm sure if I made crazy money like that coaching ball and being glad-handed all through life, I'd be an intolerable prick as well.
Keith Burns fell off the damn map after he got his own program. That speaks volumes.
Of course they want to get back in coaching. How else are they gonna make $200K a year? One of my good buddies' dad worked for the NCAA for a long time and was AD at a few schools and ultimately a high profile BCS school and got a fat buyout, he's been chilling and doing some consulting and enjoying the annuity payments. If my buddy wasn't such a dipshit, he's automatically in from his dad's contacts. The money at that level of coaching and admin is stupid when compared to working in the regular private sector.

I like Keith but I have known him since I was 10. I just think Keith was given some bad deals. He got to TU before they got PE as a major. He also was not given luxury Rader or Graham was given on lowering standards.
As far as him being a douche, I can see where you think that. He is a lot like Don Lindsey.

I like down to earth people like most folks do. I just have a different approach to business. It's a respect thing, if you can't appreciate and respect the janitors, secretaries, the people that make your life easier and more enjoyable, then you probably won't respect the business, the product, the customers, or have appreciation for organization.
I don't know the guy personally like you do, but old school values and manners seem to be something alot of coaches lack. I've always thought the yes sir/no sir stuff was just a facade. Sort of why I innately distrust Mormons, and bible thumpers.

There are Mormons and Christians who genuinely follow their faith and are sincere.

Burns didn't fall off he map, he's a coach (speacial teams I think) for the Raiders.

Dam when can this be over? Jeff Long has not made a whole bunch of friends from all this however he can redeem himself if he gets a Peterson or Patterson type hire. Bring it on the wait is over.

Which leads me to believe that Burns likely commited some nasty violations while at Tulsa. Just a speculation based off of nothing.
ETA: adjusted odds
Gundy 3:1
Patterson 4:1
Petersen 7:1
Fitzgerald 15:1
Briles 20:1
Current leaders as we come up on the back 9.

James Franklin added to the removed from consideration pile, after signing an extension.
I did not think he was the right fit for Arkansas after a closer examination over the summer.
He'll make a lot of SEC East teams nervous, The pressure is on UT to get a home-run hire soon.

Add Gundy to the mix of coaches getting an extension to stay and are off the table.
Presser is set for 8:30 tonight in Stillwater to announce Gundy's extension and raise to stay at OSU.

Gundy has a teleconference every sunday

interesting. Will monitor the situation.
If we do have to look at coordinators.
Bob Diaco
Tim Beck
Clemson's OC
Todd Monken
might be worth a looksy.

Sweet, I hope you're right that it doesn't affect the coaching searches. I like his name being in play with all the jobs. It keeps the talent pool a little deeper and may force some potential coaches to sign quicker.

I still won't jump off a bridge if we hired a Taggart/Dykes/Doeren/MacIntyre type coach. Someone who has done well, is well regarded, and ready for the next step.
I'd rather that than a retread or career assistant.
And I know Doeren was already snatched up, but I think he was a good name to try for.

He has it every sunday after a game, q&a will be interesting for sure

I dont even want to consider the possibility of a coordinator, if we dont have someone announced by Wed/Thur, We're gonna lose our minds.
