For me it's the 80's. After reading thru the lost hit of the 80's thread I realize that music will never be this good again IMO
The music of the 80's will forever be a etched in my soul.
It transcends

Whatever decade you were growing up in. Most people will argue that the music in their teenage years was the best ever.

60s! Not even that close for me.

*I realize some of these artists had hits and albums after the 60s.

The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Beach Boys, Rolling Stones, Jimi, Janis, James Brown, The Motown artists, The Who, Cream, Byrds, Kinks, The Doors...list goes on.

I couldn't pick one. Love plenty of stuff from every decade from '60s to '00s.

60's: if you like music that's about more than "I love you baby" or "You broke my heart", well ... the 60's changed all that. The fences around rock music, which confined it mostly to teen love, we're knocked down between Rubber Soul, the Stones, Bob Dylan and others. That decade paved the way for unrestricted musical exploration in subsequent decades.

Lower tier decade of music in my lifetime and it isn't close.

It's really difficult to argue against the 1960s and 1970s.

I am going to have to go with the 80's. There were a lot of great rock bands that took it to the next level at this time. The 70's and 90's are definitely tied for a very close second. I was not around during the 60's and I am also not a big Beatles/Dylan/Stones person.

60s and no other decade comes even close. The impact on society alone makes it #1.

Look at the 50's and then look at the 70's. Why the big change?

Best periods I can recall, not actually decades:

65-80

Followed by 88-98
