The genesis of this thread was the "Is Nickelback the worst band ever?" thread. I was going to suggest Captain Beefheart, but then I realized I may not have tried hard enough.
Similar cloth as Zappa, I suppose, but the line between seems blurry and real at the same time.

Took me awhile to get into Eyehategod and Sunn O))) but I listen to both fairly often now.
