Good topic and hard for me to answer.
Can't think of a particular artist so I'll go with soul music as a genre. I always heard it growing up on oldies stations but really started LOVING it about five years ago.
I have certainly "tried" to like bands and it didn't work (The Shins, Umphrey's McGee come to mind).

Same here with Rush. I don't know if I will, either, unless I somehow become a lonely, creepy-looking, middle-aged dude. You can't get your virginity back after you've lost it, can you? That appears to be a prevalent characteristic as well.
