Thanks but that left me more confused than what I started thinking
There should be some Hornets-focused translation of key parts of the Coon CBA FAQ out in time for free agency.

Leaving aside the unlikelihood of Williams coming to Nola, pairing 28 year old DWill with 23 year old Gordon and 19 year old Davis just doesn't seem to fit what they appear to be doing.
Expecting a contender for 2013/14 is very optimistic. That's assuming Gordon is healthy and everything we think he can be, that Davis is everything we think he can be almost immediately, that #10 is a solid player. Let's say they start to seriously contend in 3 years- Williams has one year left and will be on the wrong side of 30. Do you give him a 4 year extension that brings him to 35 or let him walk while Gordon hits 27 and Davis 23?
I'm not against bringing Williams in, but this is all before we even know what a Davis/Gordon pairing looks like. Let's at least see where the roster holes are after the draft and on the court before we call for the Hornets to give up their flexibility and ability to shape the roster to fit Davis/Gordon

You're over exaggerating the importance of Williams' age. The wrong side of 30 for a PG is 40.
Good point guards are very productive well into their 30s. It's a position of longevity.
Stockton, Nash, Kidd, Billups, Andre Miller, Payton, Cassell
If the Hornets want to bring him in, age is the last thing you are worried about.

Do you think it hurts him more because athleticism is a big part of his game?
Or can he/will he evolve into a more crafty type like Jason Kidd did?

Gyno makes a good point. Most of those guys did see a dip in minutes or production around 34/35, but they were still good. It is entirely reasonable to suggest Williams can be effective as he ages. He is athletic, but he's got Kidd's body type. He can guard 2s or even 3s once his quickness goes.
Regardless, Williams coming here is most likely a fantasy. He won't join a team that needs a couple of years to season (other than Brooklynn who can give him more money and years)
He's Dallas/BK or perhaps a wild Lakers trade.
