Why I'm looking to get out as well. Making ends meet w/ two $70k(wife and I) salaries is very easy, but I'm trying to make that by myself so the wife doesn't have to work, and in the accounting world...it takes too long for my liking as I've found out. ETA:
There are perks though. You can find a job virtually anywhere, and most positions are extremely stable.

last year i'm drinking on the deck with my friend who's an operations manager for a big oil and gas company and he says "you bring home what? about 150k a year" I nearly choked on my beer
