2011 Heat vs 2012 Heat

Which is better? Last night one of the analysts was saying last year's Heat team was better. IMO the addition of Battier made this team better. I honestly think this series would probably be tied or in the Thunder's favor without him. He has been the glue guy they brought him in for this finals.

2012
battier has been a great depth addition
chalmers has improved
james jones is healthier
norris cole sometimes does some great stuff
last year they simply didn't have the depth

Battier is the man, true team player. However, i believe last years team was much better. Lebron is playing much better as general but i thought there was more talent last year.

What talent are we talking about here? Who did they lose that was so talented? Wade hasn't regressed as much as the Chalmers improvement and Battier addition have given them. I still believe Wade could carry them if he absolutely had to.

2013 probably will be the Peak of whatever the Heat are going to do with the LBJ/Wade dynasty. I'd imagine they add a couple of pieces like they did with Battier last year that will help.
ETA: I will say that at his age, I don't know that Nash will be a huge impact considering Miami usually runs a half court offense. We already know he will be a defensive liability. Of coarse he is a take if we can get him though.

Battier played like absolute crap all year up until the finals so up until now I would of said 2011.

Not fair if this happens.

Joel Anthony and Mike Bibby were starting on that 2011 team.
They have huge upgrades now at that position (well..moving Bosh to Center, LeBron to PF)
If the Heat had Battier....and Chalmers was the starter last year....Might have won last year.

As for this answer, 2012. Lebron is playing better, Battier is a great addition, Chalmers is nothing special, put playing much better in some key moments than Bibby ever thought of doing. Team has had time to gel and look to be feeding off each other rather than just trying to get out of each others way.

He has had a bad year scoring. But, the Heat didn't sign him for that. He has been doing everything they have asked of him this year. Hell, he doesn't even start a lot of games. But, the Heat really needed a guy that will take charges, go after loose balls, take pressure off of Lebron defensively, sacrifice themselves for the team. That kind of play is contagious and you see the other Heat players doing it more as a result. The fact that he is having a nice finals is just an added benefit.

Yeah, the fact that Anthony started last year and he is hardly seeing the floor this season speaks to how much better this team is.

He has always done this. His post up game has sucked in the past, but "freight train to the lane" is from his Cleveland days.
