So the bank fricks up, give you money and you dont catch it and you go to jail?

Obviously that's not what happened here, but I'm just saying...Does anybody have a problem with the premise of that?

Take the 1.5, try to turn it into 3. If you win, put back the 1.5. If you lose, you do a 15 month bit. I'd risk it.

A community bank or small regional would catch this almost immediately. Big banks are shockingly lax in their accounting practices.

He doesn't have it to give back. What are they gonna do, garnish his nonexistent wages?

Some people also think that those big evil banks made people buy houses they couldn't pay for too. This thought process makes me

They didn't make people buy houses, but they made it incredibly easy for people to borrow money they shouldn't. And they turned around and used that debt to create entirely fictitious financial instruments which they traded among themselves, crashing the economy. That is entirely the banks' fault.

I'm sure it's been said (not reading the whole thread) but the "gambling" story sounds like bull shite to me. He'll have a nice little stash when he gets out.

Are you stupid? He didn't own that money, period. He knew his account was in the negative, he had to. This is why there are stereotypes in this country. What does it take for a person to be so damn stupid to do something like this?

That only works if you put a sticky note with his name on it ON the $1000 bill as a comparison.

When you cancel your cable, and the cable company forgets to turn it off, are you stealing when you continue to watch?

I'd to this, but I'd stash one million in my sock drawer and see if I could turn the 500K into 1.5 mill.
