Per Vilma himself:

quote:

Meeting w commissioner goodell tomm at 10am. We'll c what happens. #july5th

LINK

What could this be about? Goodell reducing suspension for dropped lawsuit? Goodell presenting the evidence to Vilma (evidence, lol)? Goodell's unchecked power finally reaching a boiling point with Rog snuffing out Jonathan for not keeping his mouth shut?!

I guess we'll see.

Good find. Should be pretty interesting to see what comes out of this. I wonder if it will be Vilma and Goodell straight up man-to-man or if each will be there with their team of lawyers.

The fact that we're just hearing about this now is interesting.

I think lawyers will be there, no doubt.

This thread has a lot of potential for gifs and fap jokes. Funny or not.

Best of luck to Vilma, Smith, Fujita, and Hargrove anyway though

frick you Goodell.

I'm pretty sure this was the scheduled date of the appeals. Fujita also mentions something to the tune of "Hey kids...I'm sorry I have to miss much of Father's Day to travel all the way back East. Why, you ask? Actually, I have no idea."

I wonder how this is going to work...

I mean most of the time when you have a lawsuit against someone it isn't a good thing to meet with them outside of the courtroom unless it's settlement talk. I know Vilma's lawyer will be there so I wish I could be a fly on the wall.

@AdamSchefter: A Gregg Williams' text is likely to be part of the evidence the suspended Saints use during today's appeal: LINK

What the hell is GW even saying here? Not sure how this could be evidence either way.

I think he's saying the actual pay-to-injure talk was simply talk. No one ever went on the field hoping to injure someone, much less expecting to get paid for it.

I think Goodell's plan has always been over penalize and change the culture of the league through "Shock and Awe" and then settle out of court so to speak to make this go away. Hopefully this means he's ready to settle.

The problem for Goodell is what leverage does he have on Vilma? If he reduces the suspension from a full season to 8 games is that enough to make Vilma play ball? I'm not sure it is, but anything less than 8 games would make Goodell look weak rather than merciful.

As in 10am eastern, so a half hour ago central?
Wonder how long it will take.
