Fun morning on the golf course

I decided to take my recently turned 17 year old son to play golf with me today; he had only hit some at the driving range and gone to the local crappy 9 hole course a few times. He's been telling me he's getting better at hitting the ball so I took him to Bayou Barriere (no houses or windows for him to hit!). He suprised me with how well he could hit some of the irons, especially the 7 iron. He hit his drives 250+ but pushed most of them way right, no slice just dead push. Today at least he didn't pout and throw the clubs down and asked for help. It was actually enjoyable. He's wanting to know now when we're going back. BTW he shot 121 to my 79.

Awesome. Always good to get kids into golf.

He'll be beating your arse before you know it...my dad is a 9 handicap and has beat me once since I started playing (about 9 years ago), and that was at a resort course where I used shitty rental clubs.
However, it's the greatest thing my dad could have ever done for me, introducing me to this game. Your son will thank you when he's older. It's good that he wants to go back.

I smoked pot for the first time on a golf course.

He finally can get his fastball by me and since he passed me up in height he probably can hang in hoops now. It sucks being over 50, you still think you can do the things you did in college but reality smacks you in the face!

250 yard drive, but a 121? Teach the kid how to chip and putt.

He just started, and the few times we went before he putted great....can't chip but that takes tons of practice.

Cool story. While moving a few years ago I found the scorecard from my first round. I shot 126. But I did have a birdie

And on the flip side some other guys 17 year old son was just leading in the US Open. So you're way behind that guy...

hit his drives 250 + and these were dead pushes versus shot 121.
perhaps it was 1 drive 250 + and he got lucky? how many drives were missed and/or grounders?
