Arkansas 1999 with no Dinardo. The team looked like a completely different team with less than a week turnaround. And the Arkansas team they beat the snot out of was one of Ark's strongest since they've been in the SEC.

As much as a lot of LSU fans hate to admit it, the biggest turning point for LSU football was the hiring of Nick Saban. That's about as simple as I can put it. Anything else added to it would be a waste of words.

I was at that game and during the drive I had to piss so bad from being drunk. When I got back to my seat, I thought we had punted and gotten the ball back!

Hell, at the '95 Indy Bowl, I went to piss after Michigan State scored a TD to make it 13-7. I was only gone a couple of minutes, but when I got back it was 21-14 after back-to-back KO returns for TDs.

LSU was a powerhouse before that 03 uga game. Top 10 to finish 2001. Rolling in 2002 until mauck got hurt in the florida blowout. Already in the top 10 in 2003 before the georgia game.

The Tiger Stadium game, not the SEC Championship version. But, I think we all know that.

Not really. A top ten team is NOT a "powerhouse".

Crystal balls is what it is all about!

that is the precise moment the Modern Era of LSU football begins. Even though we didn't win a title, that's the moment LSU started contending for SEC titles. Everything stems from that moment.

It is literally impossible to understate the importance of the Bring Back the Magic Game to this program. If it doesn't happen, Saban doesn't walk into a program with tons of talent (say what you will about Dinaro -- the guy could recruit -- some of LSU's best NFL alums were Dinardo recruits).

Without reading one reply first, I'll go with '03 Georgia game. That game broke all the old myth's about LSU(can't win a bigtime game during the day, haven't beaten Georgia since way back when, blah, blah, blah).

Two plays standout...after UGA ties is up, before they could even kick the extra point, the entire stadium was chanting LSU, LSU, LSU. The old guard of fans would have folded like a cheap suit. Instead, the players, coaches & fans were all on the same page that this team was going to find a way to win.

On the ensuing kickoff, Devery returns it past midfield. Then a few plays later, Mauck finds Skyler Green for the td and the win. Believe Corey Webster picked off Green to seal the win.

We really haven't looked back since IMO.

Emmert, Dinardo, and Kevin Faulk. Nick Saban isn't the one who turned our program around.

Many people are saying this and I don't get it. If the 98 and 99 seasons didn't happen, I would tend to agree. They did happen. The coach was fired and the SEC record was horrible. It's hard to have a current run of football excellence with those two seasons in the middle.

2001 was a big year. We won the SEC, Sugar Bowl, and most importantly signed perhaps the greatest class in LSU recruiting history. Locking down Spears, Hill, Clayton, etc. had huge implications for the program
