Yep. They have to charge the loss to someone

A pitcher can get a loss with a no-hitter.

Brandon Morrow threw 9 pitches and got the L tonight. Nevermind, one of the batters that got on when he pitched scored I think.

Look up Andy Hawkins of the Yankees in 1990 vs. Chicago White Sox.

Last year Braves reliever Arodys Vizcaino had a line of 2/3 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 R, 3 K, 3 BF and got a blown save and would've had a loss if the Braves wouldn't have tied the game in the bottom of that inning

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure if you not charge a loss to his record; like no win or loss.

That poor guy. He didn't even get credited with a no-hitter

This is really confusing me, he only gave up 1 ER, but Toronto scored two runs so that 1 ER that Morrow gave up wasnt the winning run...

Is this really a question?

It's the last pitcher to give the other team the lead. If Toronto never tied it/took the lead, he's on the hook

Baseball scoring and statistics aren't exactly black and white, Boat.

I know someone who pitched a near perfect game with 12Ks and 1BB and 0 ERs. It sucks that a missed ground ball by the 2B and a dropped 3rd strike actually count against him on the W-Ls Just hoping for a loophole.

In greatest game a MLB pitcher ever threw, he got the loss.

I once saw a pitcher for the Astros (have no idea who it was...it was years ago) get a win without throwing a pitch.

He came into the game with 2 outs in the 8th...picked a guy off first before ever pitching to the plate, and won the game when the Astros pinch hit for him in the bottom of the 8th and took the lead.

Unfortunately for me, the pitcher I was referring to was my favorite pitcher of all time in his rec league championship game...my 9-yr boy pitching against an 11-yr old lefty with a good pick move to first

Down to the last strike from an undefeated season with his pals in his "fun league"...but they didn't quite pull it off.

He was 5-1 with 3 saves with this team; 69 Ks with only 4 BBs, an ERA of .65 and a WHIP of .55. One routine ground ball from a great upset.

I actually played on a legion team that did this. Our pitcher had pitched his Freshman year in college and came back to play that summer. He took a no hitter into the bottom of the 7th (0-0 score). The 2nd batter drew a walk, stole second and then scored on an error. Talk about a sick way to lose.

What a crummy way to lose, bro.

Our game last night was our league championship game and my boy had a 2-hit shutout going into the last inning (last batter) up by one to the team who runs the complex with the smallest strikezone I've ever seen

I don't recall the details but a braves pitcher got hurt pitching to the first batter of the game back in the 90s. I think he walked him. But that guy ended up scoring and he lost the game.

You will have to look it up, but there are guys in the Majors that have thrown a perfect game and lost I'm pretty sure.
