The rest of the big men in this class are pedestrian and will not even be in the league in 5 years, excluding Sullinger but I just don't want anymore below the rim players.
The harder you try to sound like you know what you're talking about, the sillier you sound when you say things like this. Meyers Leonard has all the upside in the world. He is also a legit big. Drummond isn't even 6'10". Undersized, athletic big? At least Okafor is a good defender and rebounder. Drummond shows very little desire to dominate. Huge flop risk.

I just don't see Drummond lasting til 10, especially with Portland in desperate need for a center. Portland needs guards too, but they have #11 too, which will most likely give them their pick of Ross, Rivers,Marshall or Waiters. Drummond is not working out too much , if at all before the draft, so he won't really have a chance to hurt his stock, and his measurables so far have been off the chart, which is helping his stock. Unless a few guys rise out of no where, then he will be gone by 10. But I agree with everyone else, if he is there for some reason, we must take him.

oh wow. not true
that's his ceiling if he works just hard enough to stick around the NBA
Which is way harder than he has worked to this point. We'll just agree to disagree. So, a 6'9" center with no offensive game, terrible shooting ability, no desire to box out, but he blocks shots, though.

Which measurables? His standing reach in platform shoes?

More of his 7'6" wingspan, and his 9'1" reach. Height isn't that only thing that can be measured. It's one thing to not like Drummond, but don't act like he isn't a physical specimen.

The physical specimen crap is overstated to no end with Drummond and we have learned already that it was exaggerated. Meyers Leonard seems like more of a specimen and he was willing to back it up. Tell me which top 15 pick isn't a physical specimen.

only 1 year of that, though

that's being completely intellectually dishonest
he was 6-9.75 without shoes on

if he falls to 10, these are good reasons to explain the fall. his value at 10 is unbelievable

If we sign Leonard to play with JSmoove, you could say we're going "full Utah".

how?
he was listed at 6-10, 270
in terms of how he measured up for listings, he was 7-0, 278.

What value? I keep hearing this, but it is just people parrotting the same crap they did all year while he chumped away. This isn't a modelling agency. A basketball team needs good basketball PLAYERS to succeed. Drummond is not an NBA basketball player. He is just an overstated "specimen."

If you can't see how Drummond is physically gifted, then there is not point in arguing with you...

I didn't say he isn't physically talented. All players being discussed are physically talented
Posted on 6/12/12 at 8:07 am to Jester
If he's so physically intimidating, why does he suck at defensive rebounding?

Jesus Christ, you just went full retard.

6-11, 270+ guys who are really good athletes are highly rare commodities with tons of potential

well yeah, but players can only get so good, based on potential. leonard wouldn't be a horrible choice, but he doesn't have much potential. you can get guys like leonard in free agency for cheap most every year
how many white american centers pan out? the dreaded "athletic" white american centers rarely do much in the NBA. typically they end up doing the same shite drummond is expected to do, but at a lower level

IIRC this was also said about DeAndre Jordan, which I believe is Drummands "floor."
