Interest in the NBA is off the charts right now.

TNT earned one of the largest NBA audiences ever on cable for Wednesday’s Spurs/Thunder finale.

Game 6 of the Spurs/Thunder NBA Western Conference Finals drew a 6.0 U.S. rating and 9.498 million viewers on TNT Wednesday night, according to Nielsen fast-nationals — up 25% in ratings and 16% in viewership from Lakers/Suns Game 6 on a Saturday night in 2010 (4.8, 8.154M), and up 15% and 14%, respectively, from Cavaliers/Magic Game 6 on a Saturday night in 2009 (5.2, 8.362M).

The game ranks as the 12th-most viewed NBA game ever on cable, and the second-most viewed Western Conference playoff game. Only Lakers/Nuggets Game 4 on ESPN in 2009 (9.731M) drew more viewers.

If you aren't from Los Angeles and you're a Lakers fan, you're a douche. Scientific fact.

Other than the Lakers being a big market team, why would a game 4 against the Jazz get such great ratings? Fri night perhaps?

Even with Melo and being a good team how can that be a better rated game than Dallas vs Miami? Or better than Lakers v Celtics?

Celtics/heat game 6 drew a 8.2. I would imagine okc/mia would trump that

Impressive, but I can believe it. I think most NBA fans saw it as a kind of passing of the guard. The Lakers and Spurs have been dominant for so long, and this young and exciting Thunder team knocked them both off on their way to the city's first Finals appearance. They're the team to beat in the West for the next few years at least imo

...until AD-23 shows up!

The first 3 quarters were as entertaining as any NBA game has been in a long time. Unfortunately Joey Crawford thought people were there to watch him and the 4th quarter was butchered.

San Antonio isn't exactly a small market. Top 5 largest cities in the country.
