But that doesn't mean other teams will be without deals that they still want to get rid of, that we can acquire and then use the amnesty on.
Teams without an amnesty exemption left, AND a huge contract on their books, would love to include picks in a trade with the Hornets.
An example: Washington Wizards used their amnesty exemption on Gilbert Arenas.
Their contract for Andray Blatche, who is not working out for them, is roughly the same as Ariza's this year... but Blatche's runs through 2015.
The Wizards could send Blatche, and PICKS, to the Hornets for Ariza, and Blatche could then be amnestied by the Hornets.
Pretty much everything here is incorrect. You cannot amnesty a player unless they were under contract to YOUR team before and during the lockout.

Orlando amnestied Arenas so Wizards still have their amnesty

You can't trade for a player then amnesty him.

No worries. You live and you learn.

And yes, sounds like Hornets are willing to move their 10th pick. But you'd better give them a starting-caliber point guard in return.
What is the definition of "starting caliber"?
Collison isn't my definition of starting caliber. Jennings is.

I would think Indy has no interest in either Ariza or Okafor. I'd say Jennings/Lowry/Dragic S&T are the obvious targets.

It's crazy that the Hornets don't view Jack as a suitable 1 until AD is ready to help lead us to an WCF or something.
I'd suspect that they have a player of Jennings' caliber in mind as well bc Collison was literally invisible on the court in the playoffs.

I just played around in the trade machine and don't see how we send Okafor to Milwaukee for Jennings without taking back a terrible contract. I doubt Milwaukee wants Ariza because they just signed Mbah a Moute long term. Houston can do Lowry and Dalembert if they view Okafor and #10 as enough value.

I think you are confusing two rumors.
Amico is saying that the Hornets would trade the 10 for a starting PG. He never mentions requiring Ariza or Okafor to be with it like Powell did.

Sounds like we're jockeying for Kyle Lowry from Houston (14,16 picks) or Lou Williams from Philly (15th pick).
I don't see many other starting-quality points available, let alone ones worth flipping the 10th pick.

Jarett Jack.

so we have lowery and jennings..... is there anyone else we could possibly make a trade for?
Posted on 6/7/12 at 4:07 pm to saintstigasbees504
If we are looking to aquire a starting PG, one would assume we aren't looking to go after Dragic

It really depends on how badly you stretch the term "starting point guard".
There's Jrue Holiday, Devin Harris, Rodney Stuckey, Darren Collison, Mario Chalmers, Jameer Nelson, and Jose Calderon.
Lowery and Jennings are better than most, if not all, of these guys.

We can't make a play for Dragic until after July 1.
If we get a starting point before then, we don't need to go after him. If we miss out, we can still make an offer.
