Variety reported yesterday that the studio has hired a new writer to bring DC Comics' "Justice League" to the big screen. Like "The Avengers" assembled the biggest heroes from Marvel Comics, "Justice League" would see DC's iconic characters joining forces to save the world. DC Comics is a division of Warner Bros. Entertainment.

Variety's report states that Will Beall, who wrote the upcoming "Gangster Squad" (starring Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin) for Warner Bros., will work on the screenplay. Beall previously wrote for TV's "Castle," but he has also been announced as the writer for new movie versions of "Logan's Run" and "Lethal Weapon 5."

I really feel like this could go either way. If they get the new Superman movie and some how convince Bale to reprise Batman, they may have a shot.

I can also see them trying to steer clear of that issue and recasting which could be horrible. Also who would the villain be? Do you think they would even consider using the Legion of Doom? That would present its own problems.

I would much rather see Superman Vs. Batman. I just don't know if there is enough intrest(yet) in a Justice League movie yet. Let Cavil get established as Superman let him fight Batman and then after they kiss and make up end the movie with a Justice league teaser.

If they don't use Darkseid or Doomsday then it will be a wasted opportunity. These are the two big villains in the minds of most people who have been familiar with Justice League through cartoons and comics over the last 20 years. Vandal Savage would be another possibility but not as interesting IMO.

I think they could use Darkseid with Brainic since they did work together at one time. I wouldn't want too many villians.

That would be badass, but I doubt you'll see Bale in that movie. Having Nolan's Batman team up with superheroes kind of kills the myths they've worked hard to establish. Also, how would including Cavill's Superman in a universe with other heroes alter the story that The Man of Steel will be telling?

What made The Avengers so great was that the characters were already introduced in other movies. There would be no real connection with the characters unless they spend a significant amount of time explaining the origins.

There's a Superman movie coming out in 2013 that is mostly done shooting, directed by Zach Snyder, produced by Christopher Nolan. Henry Cavill is Superman.

I disagree, I mean, Besides batman the heroes are kind of weak. Green lantern isn't interesting, flash is okay, but nothing special, Superman is too perfect. I just don't see it working near as well as the Avengers.

I've never liked Superman for this very reason.

I guess I'm just biased for Batman. Love him.

Flash and Martian Manhunter would be badass. I like green lantern as well (not ryan reynolds though).

The problem with the Justice League for me was always superman being in it. Why would they need a "league" if they have Superman.
You can't kill him, he's faster/stronger/ more unstopable then every other superhero around. If you took every Super hero vs. Superman, take out Kryptonite and Superman would win.
Every other Superhero in the justice league should use their energy making sure bad guys don't get a hold of Kryptonite, and they win...

Batman is maybe the best superhero, and then after him it is total shite. Sorry, Superman is shitty. What a boring character. Then the Flash, and Green Lantern?

I'll take Iron Man, the Hulk, Cap, Thor, and Hawkeye any day.

You can't just hire a writer for the movie....there needs to be a very coordinated plan.

If they're almost done filming Supes without said plan, there's very little they can do WITHOUT having a single standalone film.

Which would bomb given the amount of origin and backstory it would have to tell.

Superman can be awesome if written well(just like anything). I'm anxious to see what Snyder and Nolan come up with. I like the Kryptonian storyline. You may not be old enough to know it but Superman and Superman II the movies were great and exciting films as a kid, that's where I get my imprint of Superman. I made my dad take me to the theater 3 times the first week it opened and the I got the Soundtrack (Album believe it or not) and spent hours running around with a cape on. Let's hope they succeed and re-create him for a new generation.
