RHCP's biggest album came out in 1992... so this would make this group 0-5 years old when it came out. I guess Californication, BTW, and Stadium Arcadium all have come out within the past 12 years so I see where you are coming from.
It's a tough question really. I'd go more with Radiohead or Foo Fighters because I feel they really hit their stride in the late 90's and 2000's.

I almost disagreed with RHCP (too old), but I think they are a good choice considering their resurgence started when I was in middle school (25 y/o here).
Personally, I'm more inclined to go with Radiohead. They just seemed to be the height artistically. But it's tough to say that because not everybody likes them.

I'm 33 and would have to say Beastie Boys. Maybe it's where I grew up, but I have not met 1 person that dislikes them . Guy or girl, and that is rare.

the obvious answer since i grew up in the 70's is Led Zepplin.

RHCP was putting out albums before you were born. Please, for the love of all things sacred, tell me you have a better answer.

For My Generation it pretty much has to be The Who.
Seriously - too many good bands in the early seventies to pick one as THE band of the times, especially with the Beatles just removed from the equation.
