Brees has been putting up better numbers for longer.

Rodgers is good but some people talk about him like he is heads and shoulders better than Brees.

Given his age, what he has accomplished, and his physical tools, it isn't a forgone conclusion that he isn't better. Rodgers is a bad man and will be for years to come. But today, I'll take Brees for my Saints, of course.

Drew Brees not only played in another system, but excelled in it by going to the Pro Bowl with San Diego.

And it wasnt just any system he previously played in, he played FN Marty ball and had success

I do think Rodgers, Eli, Big Ben, and Brady could play in any system. I also believe Brees would be equally effective in any system as well. I don't think the writer has a valid argument, as show by the posters here who have shot holes in it.

Brown surely played. I remember him getting beat badly. As for Olin...I can't remember.

Yeah Brown played, got injured and tried to play through it. They eventually yanked him, but it was too little too late. Olin's last game was at Tampa, his first game back from injury. The week after that was the Colts massacre, and then it was the Rams game. After that, our line was set for the rest of the year, and we won the rest of our games.

And what "system" did he play in San Diego?
Stick figures drawn in the dirt on the sideline with your big toe ????

Any other system than Sean Payton's, which is their point. He was very good outside of his time with Coach Payton.

didn't Flynn step into that Green Bay system and put up the most passing tds or yards in a game...

EVER..

didn't matt cassell step into that new england system and take the patriots to an 11 win season and to the playoffs?

brees took a 2 win franchise coming off a shoulder injury to the NFC championship in his very first season.. and has broken and set several offensive statistics all along the way.. maintaining the number 1 offense nearly every single season.

This is crucial. CSP system puts a tremendous amount of decisions on Drew's shoulders, and also puts a premium on accuracy. That's why Drew has had continued success despite the fact that each of his receivers in the last 4 years has missed extended time with injury. All else being equal, if you put the ball in the right place, anybody can catch it.

The writer is clinging to old notions of quarterbacks needing to be tall.

These kinds of guys just can't accept that shorter quarterbacks can be just as good.

11 wins, yes, but no playoffs. Crazy year when that didn't get them in.

If starting a team right now I'd take Rodgers over Brees just based on age, but talent-wise right now...I'm not sure there is that much difference btw the 2.

Rodgers is a much safer choice, even if they were the same age. He's more accurate, but he doesn't have the same weapons Brees has. YES, Aaron has a lot of good WRs and a good TE, but Drew had a bunch of good WRs, a decent/good TE, and a good WR out of the back field. Small advantage to Brees' help.

Drew throws more picks, I've covered why he has a higher completion %, and Drew has more yards, but yardage isn't really an indicator of who is the better QB.

Current NFL QBs (IMO) :

1) Tom Brady
1b) Aaron Rodgers
2) Peyton Manning (he won't drop off much, but a small drop off that isn't going to be very noticable.)
3) Drew Brees
4) Phillip Rivers
5) Matthew Stafford
6) Joe Flaaco
7) Cam Newton
8) Michael Vick
9) Jay Cutler
10) Matt Schaub
