Anyone ever participate in the contest ? I am thinking about going out there one day this weekend to watch the guys cook. Anyone know if that's possible? Not sure if that area is blocked off or if there is some sort of designated viewing area.

You can walk around and watch. They even have a band that plays early (Saturday I think) for the cooks. They are only allowed very specific ingredients and have to cook over a fire, so some of the jambalaya is not the best.

Pretty sure they have another category now that allows pretty much any ingredients and doesnt make you use a wood fire. Not 100% on that though.

Only for the mini-pot competition. I was a helper about 5 or 6 times for different cooks.

Might hit this up this weekend. Questions for those who have been....
Do they have any booths or whatever that has other foods besides jambalaya?
Also, is there any entertainment or activities out there to keep a 5 year old boy happy and occupied?

It's like a fair. Plenty of food options and plenty of rides and games. Kids everywhere.
