This may explain why Quantum of Suckass was so atrocious

The fact that QoS was a MASSIVE disappointment compared to its predecessor always mystified me. I knew it wouldn't be as good as Casino Royale, but surely wasn't expecting it to be as bad as it was.
Perhaps this answers the question as to why it was so bad:

Perhaps this answers the question as to why it was so bad:
quote:
The actor (Craig) was forced to step in as screenwriter for his second outing as James Bond when the Writer's Guild Of America strike of 2007/8 crippled Hollywood.
Craig told Time Out: "We had the bare bones of a script - then there was the writers' strike and there was nothing we could do."
Explaining the situation, he added: "We couldn't employ a writer to finish it. There was me trying to rewrite scenes - and a writer I am not. Me and [director] Mark Foster were the ones allowed to do it. The rules were that you couldn't employ anyone as a writer, but the actor and director could work on scenes together. We were stuffed. We got away with it, but only just."

So who was it that decided that this super powerful secret organization's should focus on water of all things? And who wrote the ridiculous ending?

I have never been so mad after leaving the theatre. That movie sucked fricking cock. All that animation was so ghey. Casino Royale was amazing, so that made it hurt even worse.

So much was just explained to me

I read this months ago and why I kept responding to people bashing QoS (as sign of trepidation with Skyfall) as wasting their breath.
QoS was a shitty situation all around and the movie reflected that. Whatever happened with QoS will not be the reason why Skyfall is good or bad, it is an outlier.
They have everything in place for Skyfall, it now just has to be good.

This does actually explain a lot. Good find.

I know for a FACT that was Forester's doings. I read a long time ago where he was responsible for "changing the entire third act". I can't remember why exactly, though.

After watching QoS on SyFy last night, I wish they had stuck with the original ending:
Bond confronts Guy Haines, one of the Quantum members seen at the opera house, at his private estate. Mr. White is also present, serving in a henchman capacity. Bond spins around to shoot White, mirroring the movements of the gunbarrel sequence of Casino Royale, then captures Haines. This was cut so the producers would have more options, in terms of plot direction, for the next film.

Then they should have put the movie on hold. There is no excuse to release crap like that. Nobody is going to jump up to see the next one until they get some sort of reliable review.

Putting a movie on hold with the intention of picking it back up probably cost a freaking fortune. The prob figured they would release it and hope for the best.

I knew Craig came up with the name of the film. Didn't know he wrote some of it.
