I just want to lol at hornets 24/7 for acting like they broke this.
When they were saying last year that it was narrowed down to 2 names, neither which were the pelicans. LOL

One writer said Angels and Spirits.
Then the Voodoo failed purchase was written about by someone else.
Then two posts in the past 6 weeks about Pelicans by the second writer.

That wasn't them jumping to conclusions, the article said those were the current frontrunners, after filings for the names were reserved. that's not false reporting. stuff just changed/developed differently over time

Where's the defense? I outlined the timeframe, pointing out the work of two different writers, the first of which was in May, just a few weeks after Benson's agreement to purchase the team. Even in the Yahoo piece, it is clear that names were considered and discarded over time.

Hornets 247 has acquired information that points to the Angels and Spirit as the two leading names in the event of a rebrand.
Recent filings to the Louisiana Secretary of State list both “The New Orleans Louisiana Angels, LLC” and “The New Orleans Louisiana Spirit, LLC” as reserved names. There are also additional filings reserving logo’s for both names. Additionally, the city for all four filings is listed as Metairie, where the New Orleans Saints are headquartered and registered.
There had been talk about both of these names since Tom Benson bought the team and the filings seem to confirm that.
There are no filings for names like “Brass” or “Krewe” as far as we’re aware.
In his introductory press conference, new owner Tom Benson stated that he would like to change the name of the team saying, “You’ve got to know we’re working on it. We’d like to change it tomorrow. We have not gotten that approved, but we’re not letting up on it, either.”
The rebranding process does not happen overnight, and cannot officially occur until Benson is approved as the new owner by the NBA’s Board of Governors, however Benson is getting a head start. Once he is approved as the new owner, expect the decisions on a rebrand to come quickly.

Mistakes happen, and there have been some made there. But there has been good word done. It seems like people should acknowledge both and want the site to be better, not a joke, since it is cited at times by mass market media and read by fans around the world.

As I said then, they had no clue who bought the names.

The fact that it was always speculation made it laughable.
I don't really care that they got it right the 3rd time. They don't really deserve credit after the original bombing.
Pelicans always made sense cause benson owned the name. This report was fishy from the get go cough cough as I said at that time and people bashed me for calling out this unsubstantiated. report

I don't think it would be a big deal if it was just reported as a rumor instead of 247 reporting it as if it was basically a fact. Just look at the title of the article it was published in:

It rubs me the wrong way when media attempts to break stories the fastest and they are inaccurate.
Then brag about it like they told you so. When they were wrong in the first place.
And of course I always like being right.

The guy had no clue who bought them.
What actually happened was two people on separate occasions said these were the top two names. Nothing was printed. These LLC's popped up. The story was printed with disclosures about why the connection was reasonable without disclosing the two people's identities.
This was around the time when Mrs. Gayle was also talking about Cardinal Red.
The reporting was just fine. It disclosed the publicly available facts and left it for people to evaluate the information on their own.
Again, you fail to acknowledge the good work done alongside the work you value less (which is your perogative, of course) or that your original claim here of taking credit for the story was unfounded since national media sources were doing that first.
The story is reprinted (sans historical stuff) above for people to read on their own without clicking over.

I've said before that the title is strong, but that was the writer's opinion based on that info and more.
As you can see, that didn't happen later.
Also, harping on a small blemish at best has it's place, but it's run it's course. The point was not to bring up any of this, good or bad, but to point out that the credit was being given to hornets247 in part by national media sources, not by the writers themselves.
You'll find no such `bragging' here, except in response to this falsehood.

The Pelicans was always the likely choice , anyone with some common sense knew that.
I am not trying to take credit for the story. I'm just telling what I said then about the article and how it shouldn't have been assumed Benson bought those names.
it was stupid to run with the angels & demons names and pass them off as the 2 choices.
But of course is expected the huge ego like all the other douches on the site. Can't admit to being wrong, just want all the credit for being "right"
