It's right

only if you change 1988 to 1998, guessing it was a typo

The Dandy Don column and I are wrong and TigerCub is correct.

40 win regular seasons were common in the '90's. I just went to the 2012 LSU Baseball Media Guide to confirm it.

Of course, teams were allowed to play more regular season games in the '90's (56) than now (53) so it is a little more difficult to hit 40 wins in the regular season now.

winning 40 games in the regular season

that's key

It's still wrong. The article earlier said it was the 9th 40-win regular season since 1992, when they went to the 56-game limit. That makes more sense.

56 games is still the limit.

This, 1 wrong number creates so much confusion.

I guess I'll just shut up now. I'm 0 for 2 in this thread.

Wow, I forgot how dominant LSU was in the 90s. I was a kid then and it seemed like LSU owned college baseball. Good times

And, to think, we played Alabama a total of 5 times that year and we only won 2 of them, including the one that mattered the most.

We played 60 regular season games until the 1992 season. That is the year it changed to 56. So many of the 40+ win seasons in the 90's came after the change.

yea seems like Florida State and Wichita State would win 60+ games a year. I wanna say Wichita State won like 70 games one year in the 80's

ETA: Wichita State went 73-14 in 1982
