boo this man

the Green Day/Nickleback comparison was also horrible

after their mega album they made a heavier/less commercially appealing album followed by 2 lighter but more ambitious albums. American Idiot was then a very tightly crafted rock opera with 21st century breakdown being kind of a watered down version of that. Nickleback keeps churning out the same old commercial/name dropping bullshite that actually gets more juvenile as they age. Someone might not like Green Day but to say they are the American version of Nickleback is very misguided.

I agree, Green Day was once a band that i wasnt afraid to admit i listened to. Id rather punch myself in the balls than listen to Nickleback.

Green Day sucks dude. They are the most obnoxiously sold out band i can think of.

Very insightful . . . if only there were some substance to the post. "Sold out" is the most ridiculous term ever used in popular music.

Here they are after there success started to falter a little so they changed their image and became run of the mill commercial pussy music:

Ah, I see. They made the mistake of selling even more records than before and wearing better clothes. Gotcha.

Green Day was always a pop punk band. Their music is no less "edgier" than it was years ago.

At least since they left Gilman St. If they ever go back they gonna get lynched.

Because they are idiots.

Green Day allowed Lookout! to keep the masters of their early albums for over a decade, a decision which A) cost Green day millions and B) essentially funded Lookout! Records, the house label of Gilman Street. They pretty much paid for the scene.

Also, it's a pretty political scene, and Green day took that ethos to record one of the most nakedly political albums of last decade, American Idiot. They brought Gilman St. ideals to quite literally millions of people.

The gutter punks needs to get over themselves. Green Day was a godsend to Gilman.

I would venture to say that you have never seen him live. He wasn't my favorite but when I saw him live a couple months ago, Skrillex blew my mind. There's a reason he gets the hype...he puts on an incredible show, one of the best I've ever seen

You'll just have to accept opposing opinions, because I don't ever want to hear his music. It's just abrasive to me. They should play that to get rid of the bums in San Fran.

I really liked Green Day when in 5th grade. I also thought NIckelback was cool in 9th grade.

As an adult I realize that both bands sucked arse.

You must have the worst taste in music to call American Idiot a "modern rock opera".

Does anyone know yet what day Green Day will be playing? I've tried searching online, but I assume it still hasn't been announced.

this x 100, minus the part about ever liking nickelback. There's only two bands I can think of, that bring me physical pain when I hear them and then think about how many dumbass fans they have.

U2 and Green f'n day.

My favorite greenday song is the one with this line, "I walk a lonely road, and I'm all alone and I walk alone. OHhh Oh, Ohh, Oh and I'm all alone and I'm so alone"

I mean come the frick on.........

I guess I am a dumbass, which is fine by me. Unlike some, I am late to the Green Day party. Didn't really get into them until after 40. They are a good band.

haha, i was this close to editing that after I read my post because i didnt want to come off as angry at greenday fans as it did, but I decided to leave it for the hell of it.

My hate is for the band.

I don't understand how you could like them especially only the late albums; but I that's your prerogative.

No worries. There are bands that I hate with a passion - some for no logical reason. It isn't hard to see what could be irritating about Green Day, but they have a pretty good catalog of power/pop songs if that is your thing.

The only time I saw Green Day was when they played before the Saints-Falcons game in 2006.
