re: Cody Thomas

The draft is in 3 weeks but he won't be drafted in it and neither will any other recruit in this class. They're high school juniors. His class will not be drafted until next year and therefore the dilemma.

Have heard the same though and a year is a long time for him to either rise or fall on draft boards.

Has LSU let their QBs play baseball in the past? I know they have at other positions.

Several coaching staffs back LSU let Jamie Howard play pro baseball every summer while quarterbacking in the fall. Back then he probably made more money than we were paying Hallman. Kid was the perfect recruit. Paid his own way and didn't take up a scholarship.

I would think Les would be more likely to let him do both than Stoops or Saban.

That is true but on the flip side he will have selected a college by then. MLB teams don't like that especially with him saying it would require a lot of money. If he did not prove he had that value this year, it is unlikely to change for his senior year. Basically, I don't see this as a situation like Bubba Starling.

Plus, once he picks a college he will be setting in a motion the belief he is going to play in college. He will be coming to practices, talking to coaches and going to other recruiting events. This will all add up to making it harder for him to change his mind and go the MLB route. The MLB teams will know this too making it less likely they will risk a high draft choice. The fact that he even mentioned that it would require them paying a lot of money for him to consider it is a good sign for colleges.

Finally, the colleges who can't risk him going to MLB, probably shouldn't be recruiting him in the first place.

It seems like every player LSU offers, either already has a 'Bama offer or 'Bama decides to offer them after hearing LSU has made an offer. Is Saban a copycat or just trying to annoy LSU & get on the nerves of the LSU coaching staff?
More like LSU and Bama both recruit the best players in the country.
