Sally laying the death blow at the end was funny as hell.

Sally is going to be a force to be reckoned with. That was bitchiness beyond her years...learned at the feet of the master. Add in creepy Glenn, and it is going to be a bloodbath...possibly literally.

With everyone guessing as to who is going to die and how, why don't we just come out and say it: Creepy Glenn is going to kill Pete by throwing him down an elevator shaft.

I don't think the Glenn reckoning will come soon, but later possibly when the show is in its death throes a la Greys Anatomy, they may throw in a killing or two to keep it interesting!

The next episode is a Christmas one. I'm wondering how far the move the series over the next 4 or 5 eps. Mohawk had a bad plane crash going from NY to DC in mid '67. I wonder if that will be worked into the show at all.

It was a reference to the smog in New York City that killed almost 200 people in 1966. Yet another metaphor from Weiner and the Mad Men creative team.

info on it here

the smog = Betty's attempt at sabotage = Don's old life ... Megan doesn't want to let the negativity and the demons of Don's past into the sanctuary they've built.

I will say that glimpse of old Don tonight makes me hate Megan even more for taking him away.

What are you talking about? Don is en route to becoming a much better man - as a husband and as a father - because of Megan's influence.

Reminds me that some Mad Men fans need to get past seeing the show as a vehicle for the tired anti-hero lead story line and glorifying cheating on your wife, lying and fricking over people. It would be nice if the audience would evolve as the show and it's characters are evolving.

Unfortunately along with the good husband bit, the Don we know and love (this is a show and it is entertainment after all) has gone to the wayside. It's not much different then musicians and drug addition. Is it better for the musician to be clean? Absolutely. But damn was the music good when he was snorting blow off a hooker's arse.

Listen, I don't even need whoring Don Draper back. This isn't about not wanting to evolve with the characters. Understanding Husband Don has been mailing it in and his character hasn't been the better for it from an entertainment angle. And at some point he has to put the pants back on in that relationship. Megan is a large part of that and hopefully her separation from the office allows him to at least get his at-work mojo back.

Then you have people like Josh Hamilton or Robert Downey, Jr.

I've found Don's story arch so far this season to be very entertaining. And you know why? Because the creators/writers have challenged the audience in regards to what they thought they knew about who Don was. Of course they could continue to give the viewers what they want - Don philandering and being a piece of shite while looking suave and cool - but that's not what makes a groundbreaking show stay fresh and innovative. That's what shows like Friends do. Stick to a formula in order to make as much money as possible.

Looks like we're on our way to seeing that happen. Although we're not yet privy to the cartography of the route he takes to be successful at his job again.

And as far as the simple-minded dolts whose only interest in the show is to see Don frick random women and cheer anything negative that happens to Betty.. I cringe at the absolute disservice and disrespect it shows towards Mad Men.

I don't mind the non-whoring, pussy-on-a-pedestal Don, but I want to see him kick arse at work. It appears he may be about to do so.

Thank you. I get tired of the "what, no fricking, fighting, tits, or 'splosions? Filler episode!!"

I don't know. I actually think his insecurities are going to start showing more and the incidents like he pulled with Ginsberg are going to become more common and more brazen and it's going to come to a head.

Ginsbergs work was better and he knew it, but he couldn't handle it.

This is what I thought, too. Megan is in a protective role with regard to Don. She prevented him from letting Betty drag him down to her level and commented that Betty just wanted to poison them. Betty = smog.

The image of Don in his bathrobe peering out the window into the smog while he's inside with his lovely apartment with his wife making a Thanksgiving meal is a far cry from him sitting in Betty's frigid living room in his suit watching TV while the kids eat TV dinners on the floor and Betty broods in the kitchen.

I also loved his note to Megan that Betty found. He has been capable of that all along, but a spoiled Main Line brat was not going to inspire it.

People watch shows for different reasons, I'm not sure what the big deal is. Personally, I tend to tune out the sexual aspects of many shows I watch, and my least favorite parts of previous MM seasons were Don's affairs and I was disappointed in the character whenever they happened. However, I did admire Don's shrewdness and devotion to his business in previous seasons which has fallen off because he's so infatuated with Megan. And I'm pretty sure we were supposed to be happy about Betty's comeuppance in the episode a few nights ago, although I was sympathetic to the character in previous seasons she has become conniving, jealous, and bitter and involved Sally in the whole thing.

But all of this stuff is what makes shows dramatically interesting. People respond to shows in different ways which is the beauty of art. We live vicariously through characters whether they be good people or pieces of shite. I don't blame you for liking Don's change. Hell, I'd like it too if I bought into it. It's not that I like bad people; I was Rick's biggest advocate during the last season of TWD. It's just that I can't get interested in some things. It comes from being different from everyone else on Earth.

ETA: I'm seriously not jumping your case, Rohan2Reed, I respect your opinion. I'm just really talkative today for some reason.

ETA also: Don's affairs (as well as those of the others) were portrayed in a glorifying way by MM, so I don't know if its disrespectful to MM to get caught up in all of that. Disrespectful to morality, women, or yourself, but it was the show that made that stuff sexually tantalizing.

ETA, thanks Rohan for the reply on the smog. Makes sense. And I agree with your view on Don.
