While I don't see New Orleans supporting a 3rd pro franchise, if the Hornets leave, it may get interesting.

IMO, if you drop the Rays somewhere in between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, you could do well.

1) MLB fans in this area have loose allegiances to the Astros/Rangers/Yankees/Boston, but they tend to take pride in their local teams when available.

2) Much like the Saints, a MLB team in that area would draw fans from Mississippi and Alabama to some extent.

3) Louisiana residents seem to fill up baseball stadiums pretty regularly. Perhaps they are just looking for a chance to party.

On a side note, I believe I remember hearing the Saints wanted to move to a new stadium but it would be outside of N.O. IIRC, it was going to be between Baton Rouge and N.O. If they go that route, perhaps they could do something similar to the Cowboys/Rangers in Arlington.

I was there last weekend. It wasn't as bad as some make it out to be, in and of itself. But in comparison to other MLB parks across the land it's pretty pathetic.

I'm not sure Gonzlaez could support a pro team.

LA struggles with the hornets. I also remember Saints games being blacked out due to non-sellouts pre-breesus. Plus, MLB games are almost everyday on a weekday. Nola just doesn't have the people to support that. The zephyrs are only #4/16 teams in the PCL attendance and far behind some of the NE minor league teams. Nola sits behind a lot of cities. Plus, who wants to play in a ghetto/trashy town?

And for those piping up for San Antonio: The san antonio missions are dead last in attendance in the Texas League. (AA)

Adn the Nashville AAA teams is 12/16 in attendance in the PCL.

I think that can rule both of these out IMO.

Not the end all be all, but it kind of dampens the prospective city a little bit.

All these idiots who always think NOLA can have team or OKC or Portland are delusional.

Honestly, the only relocation possibilities are Sacramento/San Jose for the A's, a 3rd NY team in Brooklyn/Jersey, and POSSIBLY a team in montreal for when the Rays or another team needs to move.

A team in Brooklyn or New Jersey would be good for baseball.

Move the A's back to the east coast and put them in Brooklyn IMO. frick the west coast.

Austin could have a team. It's only getting bigger and richer, and Round Rock Express exceeds 20k in attendance.

I think the traffic and st. pete location excuses are bullshite. Every city has traffic.
You've clearly never been to Tropicana for a game. Traffic and location are a huge problem. Along with the shitty dome. I think Tampa could support a team in a nice, well located stadium. Not sure if there is a good place for one in Tampa or not though.

round rock does have a the best attendance in the PCL.

However, I'm unsure about Austin because of mixed loyalties. too similar to Tampa in that regard, IMO.

Though a team just outside of San Marcos towards the Austin side would also cover a lot of the outlying San Antonio market too. Not sure of the loyalty, but putting an Austin team near San Marcos could work. PLus having other attractions (New Braunfels) nearby could help with people vacationing and taking in a game.

Their lease isn't up until 2027, and St. Pete said they won't let them out of it unless their new stadium stays in St. Pete

So nothing to really talk about, they will be around until another city pays off their lease, which no one is in a position to do right now

Man, there's traffic problems in many stadiums and they still sell out or have good crowds. Would about Turner field. The traffic there sucks major arse and they still have decent attendance considering atlanta sucks as a sports city.

shitty excuse for a winning team. A team bound for the WS and making the playoffs regularly the past few years should still pack out the dome. Shitty or not.

Besides, it's not shitty in and of itself. Just compared to other MLB stadiums.

You either have St. Pete/Clearwater area or Ghetto. There is no good location. Plus too many old fricks and people with no allegiance or allegiance to another team in FL. Florida is just a terrible state to have a sports franchise.
